So, knowing what you know, would you buy it again?

Well I really threw the cat among the pigeons
Sorry so many felt offended
Some even defended the claim that forestry workers and defence use them
Ah wouldn’t that fit exactly into the category I suggested for owners
Other claim to own one because he tows a lot, with about 8 hours driving to the nearest dealer
Sorry to those I offended, that wasn’t my intention and my previous post was poorly worded
Anyway still really hoping Ineos can creat a better 2nd model without the “ quirks”
Each to their own

Trust me friend, here in Scottsdale...
As an Arizonan, this falls in line with what I see as well and from other posts of grenadiers in the US. Even on US lots you will see dealers putting options on a new grenadier that IMO ruins it (like mentioned red leather seats & horrible wheels). I think if you limited the questions I posed to the US market the results would be much different than the rest of the world. People do some ugly gaudy things to 4x4s here.

I think we have proved that having lots of disposable cash does not necessarily give you great taste.

In the UK, I give you The Chelsea Truck Company, (irony, huh!) https://www.chelseatruckcompany.com...-grenadier-2023-present-series-ii-bodykit-g22

To be fair to the CTC, this is the unpainted ABS panels, but so far as I am concerned they are still gash!

IMO, It looks like a bodybuilder on steroids, size is one thing but proportion does win out in my book. And when I checked out the wedsite the front looks like we have just overdone the botox in the top lip. 😂

Last car was a Touareg Lux TDI. Luxury vehicle? Not really... just great MPG and performance on slick mountain roads. It was a reasonable tow vehicle with some offroad capabilities. Impossible to get repaired. Closet dealer was 6 hours round trip.

Why a Grenadier? I recently retired and am about to start an adventure traveling the rocky mountains with our Airstream. We have visted every part of Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Texas, Arizona, and the Dakotas.

The Grenadier will allow us to see the remote areas of these states that where not accessible with basic AWD vehicles. It feels very capable and well built.

If it breaks down we rent a UHaul and a trailer to tow it to a dealer.

I looked at 1/2 ton pickups with the 3.0 diesel. Not as much room. Much less functional and probably more likely to have mechanical issues.
Boring as well.

Looked at Toyota and Lexus models. They felt like they would be easy to break off road. Potential engine problems as well.

I have owned: SAAB, Volvo, Ford, Chevy, Oldsmobile, Audi, Porsche, Lexus, Toyota, Mitsubishi... other car is currently a RAV4 Hybrid.

Classify me as you will. I look forward to whatever happens. I hope the Grenadier has incremental improvements as I have experienced some of the quirks.

Oh... averaging 20.1 MPG.

Thanks...

No offence taken, I just see all this as conversation and opinions to be discussed. I don't get all this offence stuff. I'm sure we are all adults on here and understand how discussions work. 🤷‍♂️

What is the Grenadier sold as? It's easy to mistake it, as many have here, that it's sold as an offroader. It's not. It's sold as a reliable, capable vehicle built to a higher standard of specification.

Which in turn means you can do more stressful things and get away with it. This includes 4x4, offroading, mud plugging, over landing, long distance travel, self supported off-road long distance travel etc. But the underlying thing is, it's just a durable vehicle that gets you from here to there, with minimal fuss, more times than not.

It's also supposed to have been, but been comprehensive proven not to, be be be easily diy'd. They also built a message and a look to talk to the 'heritage' mindset. A promise of 'simpler' was attached to it.

Many people will buy it for many uses, derived from or misunderstood from the above. And everyone is welcome, not just the one who goto great lengths to live life like homeless people ( only kidding....)

Now all that is the narrative.

The durable question is still to be answered. What's been delivered is still on shaky ground, and the message has been largely hot-air.

For example: we were told Ricarco seats, we understood- comfortable, easy replaced for taste, established. What was delivered was custom built in small numbers seats that come off the cheapest line. Similarly, we were told big buttons on the front console, over built, easily adapted. Delivered was plastics, feels cheap, only works at some angles, and the entire freaking cluster is one unit and has no maintenance capacity.

Anyway, my flight is about to start boarding.

I whole heartedly welcome every consumer and fellow owner of the Grenadier. Those that bought into the look, those that bought into the message, those that use it till they break it, fix it and try again, those that garage queen it, those that use it to move sheep, those that use it to get kids to school. And even those that work to make it.

The only static I carry is against Ineos not getting on with makeing it the vehicle it should be, could be.

When I grow up, I too want to be an adult.
