So, knowing what you know, would you buy it again?

A definitive yes! After a 40 ton mobile crane crashed into my parked Trialmaster and pushed it 3 metres backwards into my parked BMW, I thought that it is over for my car and its frame may be damaged. Turns out that - after a thorough assessment by an independent expert - the frame wasn't damaged! The crashbar took the impact and protected the frame (Rock the Crashbar 🎸🎶). The expert was astonished how sturdy the Grenadier is built.

Yes, there will be a lot to repair but this tough little car will drive again!

Fundamentally it’s a bloody good vehicle ! Ineos just need to sort the known issues , of which the front drive shaft is a priority. Beyond that being able to service at independent garages and Compatible OBD tool being available, would help sales and owners good will no end.

There is a dipstick in some Grenadiers….

If you are going to rely on a dipstick, you might as well write the manual in cursive. Anyone under the age of 30 can’t read either.

Wife has had BMWs for 20 years, When one said that it was low on oil, I kept looking for the dipstick…. The tech said that people misread them, add other guilds to the hole, generally muck things up. I think at that time the V8 had one, but it was on the back of the block?? I might be making that up. I just said “Ultimate Driving Machine doesn’t have a dipstick?” I didn’t realize that we’d go all the way to a four door electric ‘Mustang’.

I wear a mechanical skeleton watch, not an Apple Watch. I write notes on paper with a fountain pen. I shoot film with a Canon F1New, and by ‘New’ I mean 1981, and a Leica CL, from 1976 not 2015. I’m not trying to be a Luddite, but I’m pretty good at it.

No religion or politics … might need to add camera brands. 🤣

The thing with a dipstick is that you can actually see and smell the oil situation. More importantly on diesels than petrol, as usual expectations are that diesels are worked harder.

Until some further accountability/refresh addressing multitude of issues > no would go Lexus LX700h Overtail w/ third row delete and triple lockers

Nothing is straightforward with modern tech. No brand is completely immune from problems, even the well established leaders.

Completely agree, but prior vehicles (4 runner/land cruiser/Gx460/RX350) provided hundreds of thousands of trouble free miles. I own a couple classic LR's and love the IG but the amount of time in dealing w/ issues is unacceptable for a vehicle of this price w/ out timely loaners and quality dealer support. I truly hope the company turns around, I'd be the first in line to purchase a gen2 w/ the issues sorted.

Diesel yes, petrol no

Mine went in for a service, I picked it up and the low oil light came on 5 mins later. Turned round and they topped it up a bit but were wary of topping up anymore as it would now be at total max according to what they said they had put in.
I pointed out there was a dipstick, to their surprise, climbed up on the bumper and knelt on the wing to reach into the engine bay and hey presto, pulled out a dipstick. Level was on max. Got back in the Grenadier and drove home 10-15mins into driving light went off and has not been on since, about 2,000 miles ago.
Oh wow. I didnt know that. I thought it would be common sense to have a dipstick.
