These kits are only for fixing chips so they don't form a crack, fingers crossed it holds for you
Not quite. I have successfully repaired a severe crack (see here). Right upper corner (passenger side). It's more than 15.000 km now, including winter, including summer, and the crack has not further developed. The yellow dot marks the original end.
I worked from the end of the crack towards its start in several steps.

Is a cracked windscreen not illegal in Germany, I'm sure it is over here, although you would be given a period of grace in which to replace without any further ramifications from the police, if caught.

How did I know that this kind of answer would be the first

Of course, nearly everything that makes practical sense is illegal in Germany. Does that answer your question?

Sorry, but today I already had my dose of people who only tell me what's _not_ possible... I always think solutions, not problems. And rather ask for forgiveness than for permission.

I did think that would be the case over there, we are always given the impression that you like to obey the rules whereas the British have your mentality. I just wondered what your rules were, no lectures, tone gets lost in a typed conversation

Accepted & appreciated!! No personal offense ever intended!
Just (a bit over-)sensitive to those types of "But ya know this is illegal?" comments today...

I lived in Scotland for six months in the last century, perhaps that still has an effect today :-)

I do get where you are coming from.
I'm hoping you enjoyed your time in Scotland

Believe it ,man, I did!! Most intense time in my life... It's a pity I only made it back once, and this was ~20 years ago. Landscape, people, everything: Simply beautiful! I really regret not having tried to build a life there. But, as a German, what do you know about life at the age of 25...
