Rubber parts on the inside of the backdoor - what are they for?!

Can someone tell me what these two rubber parts marked in the photo are for?

What is their function?

Can I remove them without any issues?

One of them fell off recently. I’ve reattached it, but it made me wonder why I’m even doing that. ^^

I think they are to protect the doors in case you shut them in the wrong order.
