I think the newspapers are pointing out the delay, which we have already been informed of by Mark Tennant. If that was current news, they would have written something like "... as has been told on Monday by Dirk Heilmann ...". But they don't tell the source. They (the newspapers) are simply bums.

Seems to me that every headline which distracts from our real problems is welcome ...

Ineos postpones Grenadier production in Hambach again
With information from Lisa Huth 10.09.2022 | 18:33 Uhr
Read aloud

The automotive division of the chemical company Ineos has to postpone the production of the Grenadier off-road vehicle at the Smart plant in Hambach again. The reason is delivery problems with several parts. The first cars should be built in the course of this month.

Originally, production was supposed to start in July, then in August, and now it had to be postponed again: The start of the new off-road vehicle Grenadier, which the British chemical conglomerate Ineos wants to build in the Smart plant in Hambach near Saargemünd, is further delayed.
Delivery problems with parts

The company cites delivery problems with several parts of the new car as the reason. However, production of the first Grenadiers is expected to start later this month.

The Grenadier has been available for pre-order for months. In July, a few customers had the opportunity to test a prototype of the car in the field near Steinbourg in Alsace.
Start with petrol and diesel

At the start, the Grenadier will be offered with a petrol and a diesel engine from BMW. Battery-electric and hydrogen-based powertrains are to follow. So far, Ineos plans to produce 30,000 cars per year. By the end of July, more than 15,000 pre-orders had been received.

Ineos had acquired the Smart plant at the end of December 2020 and invested about 50 million euros there.

Thank you for the deepl link, didn't know that.

IT'S AWESOME! I used google translate a lot, but with mediocre results. deepl seems to be much more refined and mostly catches fine language aspects very well. (y)

Thanks!

Deepl indeed in my opinion is the most powerful translating program. There is an app as well.
I sometimes use it for business reasons and I retranslate my English back to German to see whether it makes sense 😬

Oh no!
The intended dealer in Berlin does not want to work with Ineos now after all, so no dealer in the region at all at the moment. Ineos called me yesterday and told me that, they are looking for a new one. So I have to pick up my new car in Leibzig, 230km away. They would also deliver the car to the front door, but I don't want that, I'd rather pick it up.

My date of manufacture was also mentioned, November 19. Then 4 weeks until delivery, they said, with a little luck it would be there for Christmas.

Now I'm thinking of registering the car in January 2023, it would then clearly be a model of the next year. 1 week wait more would not matter in the end. What do you think?

The good news was that my changed configuration was in their data base and will be shown in my account when thy offer the contract - soon they told me. Hope so.

If you have a 2022 registered car, perhaps in the future this will be worth more as it will be far more unique than 2023 registered vehicles - perhaps even a collectible.

Wouldn't it just go off chassis number?

So Ineos advised you of a specific production date for your car ( I assume the day it rolls off the line?) - so they could provide a specific day to all order holders via their "account" on the INEOS Grenadier website

so the second one is gone. It would be nice to hear about the reasons for this.
I can imagin some reasons for canceling the relationship with Ineos.
  1. The dealer has the feeling that they will get a lot of trouble with customers after the selling starts. Furthermore they do not feel confident that Ineos will be a reliable partner in solving those problems together with them.
  2. The dealers think they do not get enough money for their effortsand the risk they are taking.
Any other suggestion?

Dealers around the world are unhappy about the trend towards agencies i.e. prices set by the manufacturer.
Never met a dealer who worked what I would term "hard". Well , maybe a casino card dealer.
Not saying that there aren't hard working dealers out there. Just haven't met one.

Yes, Riller & Schnauck.
I think they are better off with selling Rolls Royce and Ferrari and expensive BMW in Berlin - might be it is better for us too. Ineos will find an other partner, hopefully one with some offroad competence.

In Australia, the market tends to operate on the year the vehicle was build, the model year of the vehicle, but also the year that the car was first registered. All three can have quite an impact on the value of the vehicle - depending on who you are talking to.

As far as the INEOS goes in Australia, if I had the choice, I would definitely choose a 2022 built, 2022 registered car.
This would put it in a far rarer category of being one of only a few "originals" which would be worth more down the track than a 2022 built, 2023 registered car.

This scenario would only work for the initial build Grenadiers mind you. If I were looking at buying a new Landcruiser for example, then you would definitely prefer a 2023 registered vehicle.
