Multiple errors after engine stop.

I have a September 2024 Trialmaster which has the usual Grenadier quirks, but there is one which I haven't found mentioned on this forum (it may be that I haven't found it, rather than it hasn't been mentioned). I'd be intersted if anyone else has a vehicle whcih does this, and for any insight into the behaviour.

If I stop the engine for some time but don't get out of the vehicle, i.e., don't open the door, as you might do if you are stopping mid-journey for a sandwich, then without exception when I restart the engine I get at least one, and usually multiple error messages. So far there has been one, several or all of the following:

• PDC Error
• Transmission Error
• Engine Control Error
• Power Steering Error

The transmission error also now happens without fail when I start the engine from cold and sometimes when not cold, but clears when the engine is running, so its inclusion in the list above may be a red herring.

The PDC, Engine Control, and Power Steering errors persist and scroll on the display panel until the next time the vehicle has properly gone to sleep and re-awoken. The presence of the error messages does not seem to affect the vehicle in the slightest, it drives and steers entirely normally (well, normal for a Grenadier ) and the PDC still beeps if you get close to anything. My deduction is that there are no genuine faults but some ECU hasn't booted correctly.

As I say, this happens if I stop the engine for a short time - perhaps 1/2 an hour - and restart without opening the door, i.e., the vehicle has not fully powered down. If I do the same thing but open and immediately close the driver's door, the vehicle powers down and seems to wake up normally and without errors (except for the random Transmission Error that happens anyway). It doesn't seem to make any difference whether or not I remove the key from the slot.

Has anyone else found anything similar?

Another thing that puzzles me about this is that the Grenadier (unlike most modern vehicles) has traditional hydraulic power-assisted steering, not electric, so what does a Power Steering Error actually indicate? Could it actually be a yaw sensor error?

Any ideas would be welcome, and if anyone wants to try stopping for say ten minutes without opening a door and restarting the engine I would be very interested to know what happens..

I've seen the power steering error and PDC error flash momentarily a couple of times after a stop start.

Yes I’ve had that happen on numerous occasions when I stay in the Grenadier in the drivers seat and my wife goes into the shops. If I stop engine but not exit vehicle then I’ve had the same errors and some more I can’t recall when I restart. Often multiple errors, but I think they always include the transmission one and certainly I get transmission error by itself too. There is no consistency except to say the longer the stop generally the more error messages. The error messages clear for me after a minute or so driving. Just once, upon multiple errors after that scenario, the vehicle went into limp mode after about a minute of driving. I pulled to side of road, exited vehicle and gave it 5 minutes and all was resolved.
