Following on from another post, locking with the physical key is slightly different from the remote:

- If you leave the lighting stalk manually on head lights or parking lights then the parking lights stay on
- The entry alarm is disabled
- The tilt alarm is disabled
- The headlights do not come for whatever time you have set in the infotainment system. (aka follow me home)

Has anybody spotted another difference?

The physical key will lock the car while the bonnet is open. This is how I lock the car when I have charger leads going into the engine bay with the bonnet unlocked.

I'm just curious, why leave the bonnet open when on charger. I just drop the leads to the floor and feed in from the bottom of the vehicle meaning the bonnet can stay shut. That said the charger is remote in doors and I'm using long charging extension leads, so no mains cable open to the elements

My outside driveway floor is dirty, the engine bay is dirty, the bottom/underneath of the car is very dirty!!
Easier to just reach in the top and connect the leads to the charge points under the bonnet. I could slam the bonnet shut, jamming the charger leads into the surrounding rubber seal but probably not good for the longevity of the leads.
I use a CTEK CS One charger and have the adapter cables for it. (One day) I intend to bolt the adapter cable to the under bonnet +ve terminal and earth point and leave the cable under the bonnet permanently, so I can quickly plug/play connect with the bonnet locked (eg from underneath or through the windscreen end of the bonnet).. Currently it is so quick to open the bonnet, connect with the crocodile clips, then rest the bonnet on the leads and lock the vehicle with the physical key, that I haven't got around to it.
The charger is rated IP65, however I usually put it on the ground and kick it under the bullbar so it is not directly exposed if it pours with rain. The mains cable extension connection to the charger is inside a garage roller door. Unfortunately the Grenadier will not fit through the door of the garage!

When I say that I leave the bonnet open, I mean it is unlocked and just resting on the rubber rim seal. However, unless the bonnet is properly locked by dropping from the open position or slamming it shut, the remote key will not lock the vehicle, whereas the physical key will.
