Letter to Lynne Calder

In my last communication from Lynn (yesterday) she did say that it might be months rather than weeks before a scan tool was available. But they are pushing ahead with it.
What about the ADAS update. Why does that never seem to be spoken of. Manuals and scan tools for repair are great but user interface and irritants should have been dealt with. What’s the story on that? Or do we just not talk about that?

I'm pretty sure that was imminent when I asked her.

I'll make a list of questions.

what else?
+ Power steering noise.
+ HVAC - can they gather general information on flap position, sensor locations, + many more items - all with the goal of understanding how it works. Because quite honestly it doesn’t work for most.

Just adding this in case it annoys others…
Door Seals
It seems rather a “weak” solution to cut holes in the outer door seals to allow water that should NOT get inside the seal to simply drain away!
There is a constant presence of contaminants from this design flaw as seen here in the attached image. (The water drips can also be seen high up the door’s leading edge)

@Karearea I'll see your door seals and raise you an aquarium. ... should I get goldfish or something more exotic?

All 4 footwells last week after a torrential downpour. 😕
Yuk!
My front left was like this before they cut the holes in the bottom of the seals, which quite frankly is a ridiculous temporary “fix” for seals that are incompatible with the door/body shape.
I’m raising this again on Tuesday when mine goes in for the rear differential shaft seal replacement and door handle recall replacement.
Are your seals original or “modified”?

Over on Reddit there’s a post from someone who mentions they’re a dealer and that the ADAS update is being rolled out in the US currently

It's either a seal position error, material shrinkage, or a disbonding problem during or after production. They are quality issues not design issues. The TSB is to test that the door seals are making full contact with the body then either reposition, re-glue or replace the seals depending on the criteria in the TSB.
My Feb 2023 build still has the original unmodified (uncut) door seals and no leaks. That's helpful to no one other than me, but either my vehicle is an outlier or the design is ok. I choose to think it's the latter.

There does seem to be a design issue with water collection and drainage from the front end of the roof gutter (drip rail). The rubber cap acts as a dam so water overflows the gutter into the gap between the A pillar and window frame. That water has to go somewhere. Not into the cabin if the seals are correctly installed.

Modified. I was able to re-align the back doors myself, a fix which lasted quite a long time - 9 or 10 months. The front I've not had success with. This is the wrong thread for boot-wash woes-- but I couldn't resist responding here with my fish tank video...

Yep same here. Been in some epic, weeks long Scottish rain storms and not a single leak from doors or safari windows. 23MY. I’d be inclined to agree it’s not a design issue but a quality control one.

Northampton and by default Oxford as it is listed as a service centre only have two people actual working on the cars
With the closure of other dealers at the end of last year Ineos must have been aware of the increased workload and should have insisted that an approved service centre employ sufficient staff to meet demand. I really don’t understand Ineos or their plan for customer service

Thank you Tom for all that you have done.
Would like to know if Lynn is aware of the complete failure of service and support in South Africa, specifically the SMG dealership. How PT03 vehicles bought from Ineos by SMG, and intended for the safari business, ended up for sale to the public? Some very shady stuff going on that is seriously damaging the Ineos Grenadier brand.

Agree. My door seals are fine (Jan '23 build).
And over a year ago I mentioned the rubber caps at both ends of the roof gutters don't allow much water flow , and block with debris easily. As minimum they need a piece of strimmer/whipper snipper cord run through occasionally and it's best to remove the caps and clean them by hand.
I don't want salty sand or other road grunge sitting there long term.
Take a cap off (one screw) . and see it is actually poorly designed.
