Letter to Lynne Calder

In my state which is probably a pretty decent size market for these cars... By law the manufacturer has to make workshop manual, parts catalog and diagnostic software available to independent mechanics if they wish to retail their product here. My dealer called post purchase and I asked about manuals and software and he said "dealer only..." A federal court upheld the law recently as there was pushback (particularly by JLR). I still like the car, but I want to be able to work on it just incase the dealer/company goes away. I sort of thought that was the hook with these cars back when I first heard about them... Manuals and diagnostics... you'd be able to work on it.

How do you tell which one you have, .1 or .2?
I regret that I didn’t ask that question, She did say that the early 24 models had different hardware and that post June? 24 the hardware was different. It was due to new cyber security laws in the EU. So if your build date was late 24 there’s probably a fix available now.

I talked to Lynn about after market scanners such as AUTEL. She said that whilst they weren’t against the aftermarket developing a scan tool they hadn’t reached out to any providers. She was going to go away and research it and get back to me. It just wasn’t something that they had considered. I find this encouraging.

I pointed out that whilst it would be time consuming and costly to bring an INEOS branded scan tool to market in house, if the after market would do one this would be much cheaper and even possibly free. She is going away to research this..

Thanks for taking this on for all of us, and getting a response. Next time you speak, could you ask about hands free microphone quality, my vehicle is used for work and long journeys, everyone complains about the sound and i can't be stopping all the time to take calls as I would never get anywhere. It's such a silly point but it is a huge problem and something we shouldn't have a problem with nowadays.
I have other issues but they seem to be covered/working on but this is very annoying for my customers.
Thanks again for everything you are doing.

My door plaque states 11/23, so I guess I'm probably in the category of "wait the perpetual 2 months". ;)

That is a great question. Or more importantly, what is the difference between all variants? As an early adopter, will my vehicle be at a disadvantage in comparison to 2025 builds?
you won't have the nanny state bongs which was my preference for wanting an early model. Whether that is seen as a good thing in the future?

Thanks for the info, that would be great if they actually did that... I have an CRMAX which is the same thing as an Autel808 and that's all these cars would ever need if supported. It gets into every function of my range rover... I've been able to fix some tricky things over the years with it.

Open your driver door, there’s a black vehicle label, your build date is on the sticker

I have just asked why, INEOS believes that the UK version of the EU Block Exemption and the Euro 6 regulations do not apply to them, I believe they require diagnostic tools, software, and repair information to be provided to independent garages on the same terms as dealers if not owners
There may be a genuine reason why they can avoid the regulations, however that does not mean they have to I will persist until I get a response
