I am currently looking for insurance quotes in the UK as I take delivery in Feb (yay!). The car has finally appeared on insurance company websites this week BUT when you go through the online quotation process they all say you need to speak to someone in person regarding specialist coverage (and they then come back with daft quotes based on it being a "specialist off road vehicle). LV is the only one which has given an online quotation at all.

Has anyone else managed to get a proper quotation from anywhere else?
Talk in person to the local NFU office.
Why is it cheaper when your wife is driving it as well?
Women are statistically less risk, therefore if she is driving you're not, therefore risk reduced.

I am talking to the person in my local NFU office and have been a customer for many years, they are getting a quote for me, but explained that it would be classed as a commercial vehicle.

Yes NFU told me yesterday that they only had it on their light good vehicle list

Hi, I am in process of ringing around for insurance for a 5 seat station wagon (ie the N1 version). I am not having a lot of success and would appreciate any recent feedback/quotes others have had from insurers. For context, I am late 50’s, full no claims, no tickets/convictions, rural Hampshire, locked garage, several other cars etc etc. What I have found is that the obvious comparison sites won’t quote for an N1 version (although I can’t conceive the risk is different for a non-N1) and those that might are asking for a reg number (which I can’t supply). The NFU online quoted £1,400 and I am now trying the local branch but they apparently are having problems recognising the car and also noted (ominously)

My underwriting team have searched the INEOS Grenadier Station Wagon and apparently there is queries over the security of this type of model.

Cheers

I got quotes from Go Compare and Compare the market with the best quote coming out at £510 with Admiral. The N1 version is listed as a Van so check for Van insurance. I'm 73 no accidents/claims etc parked on driveway overnight.

NFU have confirmed to me that they now have ALL the Grenadier variants on their register and have quoted me £765 for much the same conditions as you (except a few extra years on your age). head office in Warwic.

My quote from NFU today was £949.50. (8 years no claims, 10k personal miles, 10k business miles, parked on the drive, no additional security).

LV has quoted £740.39

Adrian Flux came back with £1,515 with a £750 excess

Direct Line will insure a Belstaff Edition M1 for £697.11, but will not insure a N1 Station Wagon at all, as the system defaults to "Panel Van" with no doors! Their suggestion was ring back when I had a registration mark.

Compare the Market struck out, no quotes! Apparently that only happens to 1 in 200 quotes

Go.Compare do not list the right vehicle, the only 5 seater is a double cab pickup. (Although they will cover the M1 vehicles).

Confused.com suggested Admiral at £666.50, which is the best so far. Only problem is Admiral have been shockingly inept in the past; I'm not sure I have forgiven them yet.

AN update on my side . Jsut got a call from admiral , they will not insure a Belstaff Trialmaster . So much for hoping for an easy transition .
Compare sites come back with quotes over 1500 and the cheapest one was with a black box (really not interested)
The fun calling around game begins .

Try the NFU local office, unless of course you have blotted your copy book

Don't use the website phone the nearest local office and talk to a person. They will be able to point to any issues. You don't have an inner city post code by any chance?
