Hello all,

I've followed the story of the Grenadier from the start, and have always considered the possibility of ownership to be in my future. I'd love to know what you drove previously, or what you may also have in your fleets, and what you think of the IG in comparison.

My current vehicle is a 2023 Audi SQ7, preceded by Gen 3 and Gen 2 F-150 Raptors which saw their share of dirt and airtime. The closest thing I've previously owned to an IG would have been a stock 1996 LX450 which I used as a "winter beater" & offroad park toy, and absolutely loved. I am also considering a new Disco-fender 110, maybe 130, but have had terrible experiences with JLR products: F-Pace SVR transfer case required replacement at less than 2,000 miles, and an F-type R that completely shit the bed...

I have two children under two in rear-facing car seats, and the Grenadier would be my primary vehicle - driving only an average of 6,000 miles per year. Finally seeing one in person this weekend at the local auto show has reignited the flame.

For anyone who's made the switch to the Grenadier from more performance-oriented vehicles - how has it treated you?
I have no delusions about the expected road manners of a purposeful 4x4 SUV with a recirculating ball steering box.

Thank you 🙏

My Ineos effectively replaced 3 vehicles:
2002 Defender 90
2018 Mitsubishi L200 Warrior
2019 Ford Transit Custom crew van

The Land rover was no use for the family or long distances and the HVAC was shit and always needed something fixed

The L200 was ok but a bit cheap feeling and rode like crap. Lingering long term reliability concerns and Mitsubishi quit the UK (they’re actually coming back I think)

The Transit was brilliant at most things but obviously no off-road capability

Land Cruiser 100 Series, Land Cruiser 200 Series and Lexus GX460 (Wife's Car).
I feel like the Grenadier is most like my 100 Series Land Cruiser power wise which, for me anyway, is nice as the 200 Series Land Cruiser had too much power for me. I am slowing down in old age and wanted my rig to do the same. :)
I also feel like the Grenadier is more like a Toyota FJ60 Land Cruiser but with a more powerful engine.

Old Land Rovers; a 1989 LR110CSW and a 1991 LR90 2.5D Defender.

My wife was worried I would keep the LR90 as a pet, but the Grenadier spoiled me and the 90 had to go as it was too crude. If you have a desire for a Full Fat Range Rover (FFRR) or a Range Rover Sport, (RRLite), then a Grenadier will seem a bit spartan. If you have had the big or medium Porsche SUVs, the Grenadier will feel slow.

Came to my IG after 35 years of driving my 1988 FJ62 Land Cruiser. I was a dyed-in-the-wool Toyota guy. But after test driving the much anticipated 2024 Land Cruiser (prado) I was very disappointed. It wasn't the Land Cruiser I knew. It seemed like just another SUV, IMHO. I had been following the development of the Grenadier. So I test drove it and bought it the same day. I've had it for a year and a half now, no problems, absolutely no regrets. Tough, like my old cruiser.

Love to see the migration from Cruiserheads and Land Rover aficionados so far. Seems like they really captured their target market.

Super long story….

2020 Land Cruiser Heritage Edition fully tricked out with lift, bumpers, skids, sliders, roof rack, drawer system, yada yada yada
2016 Tundra TRD Pro
2010 4Runner fully tricked out like the LC
2004 Discovery

I bought the Gren in 2024 (Jan) because it was so cool. The LC was aging and had about 80,000 miles but was my DD. Plan was to keep it forever but stop wheeling it slowly while building up the Gren for my off-road activity. In Sept of 2025 the LC was totaled by a crazy woman on her phone. So, I was forced to make the Gren my DD. I always loved it but once I started driving it daily, I really started enjoying it. I have the New Lexus 550 Overtrail + on order (die hard Toyota guy). It is due here in about a month. I am doign a mild up fit to it, lift, roof rack, and sliders, maybe some bumpers later. It will most likely become the DD provided I can give up the Gren on a daily basis. I am slowly upfitting the Gren as my trail rig now. Adding skids and sliders, waiting for the aftermarket rear bumpers to develop more. I am taking the Gren on a trip to Palo Duro Canyon the end of this month. But overall, it is a great rig. I have not taken it off road yet so Palo Duro will be the first event. Its great on road trips and I have not been affected by the steering. I did change out the steering stabilizer which changed it like night and day. I have had no issues that are meaningful or were not readily fixed by the dealer. I had some minor leaks at first, of course the electronics are not the greatest but totally livable considering what I listen to mostly.

Anyways, my overall impression is that the Grenadier is fantastic. Just tonight I was looking at it and thinking what a great rig it is, you should totally jump in.

2017 Toyota tundra Trd pro.
1984 defender 110 LS 6.2L
Sold them both, got this thing…and I love it!
And also still rockin a first GEN tundra 4.7. The thing will not die:)

I came from a 2012 Nissan Patrol GU. It was a little worse for wear :ROFLMAO: and I had to buy a Grenadier ;). It was a great upgrade.

The Patrol was a great car for Outback touring and the last thing it did was save my life. The IG is even better.:giggle:

I found out only this week about the last two injuries, nearly 3 years after the crash - actually 20 days short of 3 years. I have a traumatic brain injury impacting higher brain function and memory formation problems - all of which I knew and live with before the Doctors confirmed it.

From the above disaster to this (and aiming for The Kimberley later this year):

Where are you planning to vist in the Kimberly this year?

Not sure yet. Earliest I would leave is mid May. In no rush to get there so probably in June or early July. I still have medical issues to deal with. I am not sure I can even do what I am planning, but I need to try.

I really want to see some remote parts of the NT on the way. Then the Duncan Road, Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing and back up to Wyndham then to Cape Dommett. Come back via the Tanami Road and Wolf Crater.

Probably not doing the Gibb Road, Broome or Derby this time (trying to use as many back roads as I can). I have been to all those locations twice before. Rough outline of trip is here:

Should head through Gregory-Judburra NP from the Tanami, good track, nice county up that way, not many people do it but it's worth the detour, can loop back to the Duncan Rd afterwards

It is an option still, but I did parts of Gregory-Judburra NP on two previous trips. More likely to go into Keep River NP which was closed last visit.

Top Springs, Yarralin and the Victoria River Region is similar landscape but south of Gregory-Judburra NP.

Keep River is fantastic, not large but lots to see, we stayed in September, no one around temps were a bit warm but the scenery is fantastic1770290168048.png

I could post details of the 20 something Land Rover vehicles both old and new I have personally owned in over 50 years of driving plus sundry other 4x4's, classic and modern cars, vans, pick ups etc but reading the list would likely be of interest to me.
