IG Owners - What did you come from, and what do you think?

Hello all,

I've followed the story of the Grenadier from the start, and have always considered the possibility of ownership to be in my future. I'd love to know what you drove previously, or what you may also have in your fleets, and what you think of the IG in comparison.

My current vehicle is a 2023 Audi SQ7, preceded by Gen 3 and Gen 2 F-150 Raptors which saw their share of dirt and airtime. The closest thing I've previously owned to an IG would have been a stock 1996 LX450 which I used as a "winter beater" & offroad park toy, and absolutely loved. I am also considering a new Disco-fender 110, maybe 130, but have had terrible experiences with JLR products: F-Pace SVR transfer case required replacement at less than 2,000 miles, and an F-type R that completely shit the bed...

I have two children under two in rear-facing car seats, and the Grenadier would be my primary vehicle - driving only an average of 6,000 miles per year. Finally seeing one in person this weekend at the local auto show has reignited the flame.

For anyone who's made the switch to the Grenadier from more performance-oriented vehicles - how has it treated you? I have no delusions about the expected road manners of a purposeful 4x4 SUV with a recirculating ball steering box.

I've owned 5 Tundras, after retirement I picked up a Hyundai Santa cruz. Now the Grenadier.

My Ineos effectively replaced 3 vehicles:
2002 Defender 90
2018 Mitsubishi L200 Warrior
2019 Ford Transit Custom crew van

The Land rover was no use for the family or long distances and the HVAC was shit and always needed something fixed

The L200 was ok but a bit cheap feeling and rode like crap. Lingering long term reliability concerns and Mitsubishi quit the UK (they’re actually coming back I think)

The Transit was brilliant at most things but obviously no off-road capability

Land Cruiser 100 Series, Land Cruiser 200 Series and Lexus GX460 (Wife's Car).
I feel like the Grenadier is most like my 100 Series Land Cruiser power wise which, for me anyway, is nice as the 200 Series Land Cruiser had too much power for me. I am slowing down in old age and wanted my rig to do the same.
I also feel like the Grenadier is more like a Toyota FJ60 Land Cruiser but with a more powerful engine.

Old Land Rovers; a 1989 LR110CSW and a 1991 LR90 2.5D Defender.

My wife was worried I would keep the LR90 as a pet, but the Grenadier spoiled me and the 90 had to go as it was too crude. If you have a desire for a Full Fat Range Rover (FFRR) or a Range Rover Sport, (RRLite), then a Grenadier will seem a bit spartan. If you have had the big or medium Porsche SUVs, the Grenadier will feel slow.
