I’ve been aware of it, but haven’t been paying that much attention. Seems like they are getting a lot of it right - owned by VW so there is a service network, making it self-serviceable as much as possible, price point, range extender option, and built in South Carolina (tariff insulation and regulation) - to remind our non-US members, that BMW’s largest plant, worldwide, is in South Carolina. I’m interested- I could see my wife liking the SUV. Interested to know the exterior dimensions. I went ahead and put down a reservation just for interest. Wish there was a clear plan on the Fusilier.

If I had to go electric that Scout (not pickup) would be my preference but I doubt we will get them in UK and if we did the price wouldn't be anywhere near as low, especially after you have the options you want.
If electric with range extenders were to be allowed, which we don't know yet, then a Fusillier would work. Fingers crossed they just let me keep buying diesel from a pump and it stays readily available

Yep - I hear you. The “no combustion engine” posture is just an impossibility for any of us outside of the EU or UK. At least outside the daily metro commuter use-case. The distances and lack of infrastructure are just an insurmountable obstacle - at least for now. Really, really wish the Fusilier had been allowed to proceed with the range extender option.

It would be interesting to see what kind of use case you could have for a solar cell panel array. The problem is I think it’d have to be so big as to be cumbersome or underpowered. Plus, you’d need to charge during the day when you want to be driving. Unless you did some kind of base camp, but I don’t think that is how people actually use the vehicles.

Scout is cool but...
1. Has to survive the lawsuits from dealers.
2. Will building a repairable and usable EV get any range?
3. They clearly realized the weed wacker range extender may not work as truck owners need, or last. ( they were of course shocked all pre -orders were with a range extender, LOL) This has been tried before. The reason Ram plans a V6 extender. Must be on 100% off road, must be able to charge and drive, ect. otherwise its useless.
