Heating system is useless

I’m back to square one…

Outside air temperature 21ºF

Fan speed 4, temperature full hot, vents selected to dash (face):
Driver Outer Vent: 82.5ºF
Driver Inner Vent: 89.2ºF
Passenger Inner Vent: 87.9ºF
Passenger Outer Vent: 67.1ºF
Rear LH Vent:114.8ºF
Rear RH Vent:127.0ºF

Fan speed 4, temperature full hot, vents selected to dash (face) and Floor (feet):
Driver Outer Vent:116.6ºF
Driver Inner Vent:127.5ºF
Passenger Inner Vent:123.6ºF
Passenger Outer Vent:114.4ºF
Rear LH Vent:143.2ºF
Rear RH Vent:148.1ºF

I was told by my dealer to always leave it on auto, select the desired temperature set point and be very patient. He did not make any claims about the dash vents but did, in so many words, tell me auto was the least bad configuration.

Mine was working ok, then started to get a few more issues of blowing cold air, checked the replacement header tanks and one was near empty. Topped up and it's back to reasonably normal-ish
I knew there was still a bit of air in the system so waited a while and as it started to blow cold I knew it would need the top up.

Okay, time for a full report on my system.

I bought the vehicle when it was.on 4,500 miles, early March, so UK weather not or cold so noticed nothing at the time. Then a few weeks later we went to Aviemore in Scotland where it is a fair bit colder to the extent that we had snow that settled. Heating would only work if on max, even 1 click down went cold. Couldn't split between screen and feet or feet and face without feet being cold. Rear vents would be burning hot and cold out front so had to shut rear. Try auto, still cold and just blew air like it has asthma.
Took to Ineos when I got home, this was still early on with the problems so they weren't really sure what to do at first other than bleeding the system. Got it back, slightly improved but still crap. By this time starting to get warm so not too much of an issue but still similar to above. Kept complaining and they kept bleeding the system. Then it got hot and the aircon didn't work. Got that re-gassed and then when it cooled noticed the heating system improved. It was now getting close to managable in a very poor way. I could use heat on my feet with rear closed to warm it up at front. Auto still had asthma. Could get some heat out of face vents but sides were cold. Did bleeding procedure myself at some point and also water/coolant had been added a number of times.
I then noticed that the header tanks were leaking, one was replaced whilst other was on order, things improved slightly again. If you had full heat on your feet for a while until tour feet are burning then tried just 1 click cooler it would go ice cold. If you just had a medium high temperature then it would work but you would always need mid high to get any heat.
Second tank changed, didn't seem to make much difference. Had towbar fitted at another dealer and the engineer mentioned that he could still hear air in the system. Couple of thousand miles later it's starting to blow cold air more often when I wanted warm so I knew it needed one of the tanks topping up and surprise surprise one of them was empty. Filled up with coolant and now, on 29,000 miles it works. On auto it blows air to warm up and nearly maintains the temperature. I can have full heat on my feet and then when they are warm I can have a mid heat temperature from hot goes to warm on mid setting. I can have front and rear vents open.
What i must say is, don't change temperature quickly and expect an instant response, it does take time to change, so don't keep reducing temperature thinking it's not cool enough, just wait a good few minutes between each heat setting you choose.

My conclusion you really need to make sure all the air is out the system, if you can't get it to work, you must have air still. The dealer who fitted the towbar said about a pressurised bleeding to get all the air out.

It's not the best system, understatement, but it can work if your dealer wants to put the effort in and you make sure it's always got the header tanks topped up.
I thought at times they had fixed it to a tolerable use but then it would deteriorate, now I would say it works. I can still hear gurgling so guess there is more air in there so when it starts to blow cold I will top it up again.

Everything has to be perfect for this system to work.
