Heat and AC are both schizophrenic

Try this, it seems to fix it for me... With the engine warmed up, turn the fan off, press AUTO, turn the temperature all the way up, drive around, so you get the RPMs up.. It is going to blow cold air for a few seconds, then you will hear flaps moving around and then hot air will come out. Let it blow for a couple of minutes, then turn the thermostat back down to a normal temperature. ..
I do something similar:

- I never run Auto and turn the AC off. Auto seems intent on blowing cold air at me when I want heat.
- In a cold car, I set the thermostat to max and leave it there until I get hot air
- Once I get warm air, I turn the thermostat down to 70 - 72° F with the fan at about 1½
- At outside temps above 50° F, I never even bother to set max first - the cabin warms up as you would expect

I can divert this airflow to the defroster if required, but normally have a mix of upper and lower vents. I don't get extreme temperature outputs. I run AC when required and it works fine.

Like not at all for a prolonged time, or do you just mean nothing happens right then? I’ve had similar weather this winter, but after a few minutes of driving, one by one you hear the gates flip and vents start to blow hot air. Even once it starts, the process takes a minute or two to fully engage and cycle all the way around (and then it’s way too hot) - and that’s AFTER a couple minutes of driving.
Mine does the same. Ive been impressed how quickly the IG heats up. Faster than any other vehicle Ive had over the years. But once hot, it is air frying hot. My only relief is turning it completely off.

This summer will be my first AC experience. I have no idea what to expect!

One never knows. The suspense . . . Hitchcock is not nearly as gripping as the question of what your Grenadiers’ climate control might decide to do at any moment.

Just for you @CrazyOldMan
