Headspace roof conversion!

New accessory for the Heradspace car from Euro Flo, it replaces the ladder which cannot be used after the Headspace conversion.

Now you have a Table and Maxtrac Mini holder.

That is a nice use of space, but I'd still keep the ladder as I may have stuff mounted to the top of the Headspace, or even enter the tent from the outside.

I will be installing the GP Factor Jetpack diesel heater setup in that location. But if you don't need a heater then this is a great way to carry Maxtrax.

Meh. I’ll pass. I enjoy my LeTech ladder and spare Jerry too much. :-)

I went for a Propex PS2000 mobile heater since I don’t see any reason to have heating permanently attached. Stick it in the car during fall / winter and hang it off a Molle panel whenever it’s in use. Works wonderfully.

A portable heater is a good option. I just prefer to have as much as possible built in. One less case to find space for or to setup when needed. Same logic applies to portable compressors and battery banks. Build them in. It is always in the rig when you need it, has a dedicated location outside the main storage areas and simply throw a switch and you are in business. I like portable setups only when you plan to move things between multiple vehicles. Then it is ideal.

To each their own I suppose. I toss it on a seat or in the back as required. I don’t like having to carry around stuff I don’t need.

I was planning to have the Alucab conversion installed, but I like the Headspace conversion so much more. If I can get one delivered to the US this will be going on my rig.
Marty at off road gear guys is importing about 20 headspace units. Has 4 already sold. I am going down to gelpmput one in and learn it so we can offer in out shop in NC

On that last note - In my ( brutally ) honest opinion you really ( I mean really… ) want to see your roof conversion of interest in person before committing so you’re able to go through the internal / external layout, details etc. on site. Internal / external sealing and finish work is another topic which is quite useful to discuss with the installers before hand. Seeing a finished example really helps in this regard.
Marty at off road gear guys will have a demonstration unit in Moab shortly. Its all on FB. Plus he has 20 units being imported. He is only bringing the premium unit for Head space.

I have spoken with Marty at length about the Headspace campers he has on order. One has my name on it and I expect to make it official during the upcoming Grenadier Rally in Moab.

Nice. I will be installing them for clients on the east coast at Design-Build-Go

It’s always fun being one of the first. On that note - We’re definitely glad we waited until Mule went through nearly a dozen Silenus conversions since we wanted to minimize some of the pain associated with being an early adopter / unpaid beta tester ( hehe ) for a roof conversion…

This is a real consideration. I will not move forward with the Headspace conversion until my regional installer has done 3 units minimum. I do not want to be a test case to help them work out the "bugs".

Glad to know you are onboard as in installer. Marty is slowly building out the network. For the Rocky Mountain region it will be Chad Personeus at J2Hundy Outfitters in Grand Junction.
Marty and I work together on a lot of projects. He's a good dude and honest to deal with.

Hi Ventus1

Thanks for the feedback on your Headspace conversion. I am committed to having the camper put on my Grenadier as soon as one can be delivered to my installer in the US.

Headspace quotes a weight of 85KG. Did you happen to weigh your vehicle before and after to confirm the actual installed weight? i did weigh the car before and after with exact same fuel etc and it was only an additional 56kg!

Any issue with headroom while in the drivers seat. I am a pretty average height of 1.765M and based on the detailed video Headspace posted to Youtube it certainly doesn't look like it will be an issue. i am 6ft and there is still plenty of room at the head height.

Can you speak to how much room is available for bedding when the camper is fully closed? I hope to keep a quilted down blanket and medium sized camp pillows on top of the sleep platform when everything is closed up. i keep 2 semi quilted blankets as its summer here in Aus at the moment but i know i will be able to keep a duvet up there.

How is the comfort of the mattress? I assume you have the standard thickness of 90mm. I weigh 72kg and prefer firm over soft which makes me think the 75mm option might be better. I'm 80 kg and for the 9 nights i have spent in it with my partner we had no comfort issues.

Are you planning to install the under mount tanks? I would be interested in using them for fuel and transfer to the main tank using a simple fuel pump. i will be adding the tanks one side for water and one side for fuel. (not ready yet)

Any plan to install a 270° style awning? I have not seen the awning brackets Headspace will be offering for the Grenadier. i have a clevershade 270 awning the bracket should be ready this weekend.

the roof rack has been installed also ad works a treat. (see photos)
