Fusilier On Hold???

two questions guys: does anyone have already experience with the REx from chery or in general with the reliability of EV offroad, overlanding or watercrossing with a EV Defender or something similar
I’m assuming the Fusilier is only intended for soft-roading

Depends what you mean. Many EVs/hybrids can cope with some rough/greasy/slippery stuff and even towing. Hybrid utes are selling like hotcakes in Australia.

Rock crawling probably not but again , people are sending the utes into pretty rough territory.

Sure - a Rivian can do a heck of a lot. But I think the Fusilier, at least as they positioned it, was supposed to be lighter use cases and more agile daily. My only point is I wouldn’t evaluate it against nearly the same criteria as the Grenadier. But it would surely be capable- as far as they intend it to be. I hope they launch it.

Sorry, i have to be more precisely. When INEOS speaks from off road capabilities, in my mind start pictures like overlanding trips with sand, watercrossings etc, but less rock crawling or sport. Theoretically the concept of REx plus 4x4 i think is brilliant. with 4 independent powered wheels you can turn on the place like the E-Gwagon, small consumption, huge clearance because of no diffs. But these advantages are only possible if this not a burner plus hybrid but an pure EV with REx. But i am afraid of reliability and cant imagine how they could keep the electric motors water- and dust proof or the 25 Years and thousends of km promise from JR ...but i know JLR and cybertruck and Revian do...
 
Spotted this one Wednesday in Germany. Not sure if it’s the new baby-G or the fusilier. By the looks of the mirrors and rear lights I suspect it’s a Mercedes. And it seems electric

Looks like a baby G. The rear tire is same style as the electric G
 
Do you guys think or hear any rumors the Fusilier is far enough along to be on road trials in spy wrap? I have absolutely no clue where Ineos is in the process. Have they even said whether it would be built in France at the Hambach plant? In the last iteration, wasn’t it to be built by Magna in Austria?

Er, hang on. Fuel prices have skyrocketed 😏

If I could afford a supercar I wouldn't be worrying about fuel prices, buying an electric supercar i would be more concerned about future values.
Most supercar/hypercars get put in storage as an investment, fuel isn't used whereas the battery will degrade.

Buying a Grenadier was never about saving fuel and this issue isn't going to last forever. I still would buy an internal combustion engine vehicle today over electric even for a small vehicle for local use. I can always use it for long distances if needed whereas a cheap small electric vehicle that would be perfect most of the time would be useless if, as has happened, I needed for a 350 mile drive in each direction with limited time for stops with shared driving.

Electric vehicles in the UK are for company car drivers avoiding tax and the various other tax saving initiatives the government have in place, or the middle class who want to be seen as green whilst travelling the world on eco holidays and offsetting their air miles to some dodgy green schemes. The Porsche Taycan was a prime example of people showing how green they were by 'buying' an expensive electric vehicle to sit alongside their large 4x4

The normal buying public generally not purchase electric vehicles if using their own money.

The car manufacturers were mislead by western governments and loud green protesters rather than their own buyers. Since when does a person who can spend all day protesting about cars, claiming we should all cycle or use public transport, whilst everyone else is trying to get to work, buy a new car?
These mass produced or high value status vehicles were aimed at the wrong people.

I tend towards greeness knowing I burn lots of fossil fuels commuting and travelling here and O/S.
Burn trees for winter heat, but the forest outgrows our use.
At least my veges have low food miles!
Wife bought an EV 3 years ago with savings to save fuel/ maintenance , and the past 12 months have enjoyed free power via solar.
Certainly makes sense for us , not living in the city near public transport. And the past fortnight she's dropped me near her work so I can save a few bucks and get a few more steps in.
And of course EVs depreciate badly. At least ours is a quality one , and so far absolutely minimal cost to run/maintain.

Can't argue with cost of running an ev, especially if you have solar or home parking with ability to plug in at home. You need to use it for some miles to cover any excess costs over an ICE. My little runaround is near 3 years old and has only just hit 6,000 miles which inclded the 700+ mile trip in the first year. The equivalent electric version was over £10,000 more witha range of less than 200 miles. I jlwouldn't want one to keep for 10 years or hopefully more and still have the option to use for the odd long distance run. If I wanted a sports vehicle I certainly wouldn't look at an ev, they maybe quick but that doesn't make it enjoyable.
 
EVs drive like the appliances they are. The novelty of straight line G force passes very quickly. Can't even chirp the tyres!
If only my old 911 had regen braking!

For cheap motoring it’s hard to beat the little Skoda I’ve got at home. 1.6l diesel engine. Purchased for £5000 and had it now for 7years with 30k miles on the clock. Now over 100k miles. . Never gone wrong and one service every year. Should go on for years yet and over 59mpg.

Fusilier is Fugly. Those things will sit on the lot longer than a stelantis product. If they want to increase volume and not lose money, continue with some other variations of this product. A SWB and a troopy. Lotsa parts commonality. Get back to being a defender replacement. It’s the core market.

I am reserving my judgement on the looks of the grenadier until I actually see one. Tough to tell especially the size. Surely not as ugly has the Aztek.

I agree the more variations are better. I know it isn't as practical, but I really like the Shorter Master.

Like the Defender in all it's variations was the core product for Landrover 🤣🤣🤣
