Fuel Prices

Maybe it will drop next week after the Easter school holidays finish. Prices always go up over school holidays, crisis or not.
Yeah but Repco and Supercheap have 40% off 😉🫠

I think everyone needs to inhale slowly, hold it, then exhale. The sky isn’t falling. Unless you’re in CA, then the sky is falling! My 93 was more than 25% less than your premium.

The concern in Australia, where this thread originated, is now less about price and more about continuity of supply.
The current uptick in fuel prices is a consequence of supply chain shock due to global oil pricing which has skyrocketed due to a bilateral military action that every one knows about but we can't talk about here.

It's not a good look.

Or have a family member work there, and enjoy discounts all year round. 😎
Or be a member at Autobarn, Super Cheap and Repco. You get a sale about every two weeks, or all of them at once over Easter.

Plus Repco and Autobarn gives members a discount any day of the year, on many products.

Never pay full price!
Oil online is worth a search. I snagged 5L of Penrite for $38 delivered across Bass Straight. Even on sale the cheaoest locally was 45, and probably $10 petrol to go and get it.
I wonder if I can get a can of ULP flown over the water? 😃

Diversification is a good thing. But the world insists on looking elsewhere for their needs.

It can't be good for the environment, much better to ship it all in from further afield, better still, ask China to build wind turbines and solar panels for you so you won't need any oil, for anything at all, and the developing world will follow your lead. Your country will prosper and you will be an economic powerhouse 😏🙈🙉🙊

Electric roadtrains , mining and agricultural plant equipment?
I think not.
Only hydrogen will work for machines that go all day. I know JCB have built these engines for the UK.
Biofuel possible but v expensive at present.
Everyone's got solar now but it overloads the grid so little or no credit.

People frothing over EVs now but infrastructure is woeful. Hybrids make more sense for the majority.
And China moves quickly.
Trucks and cars.

Don't mention the bilateral military action, I mentioned it once but I think I got away with it.....

just realised, this is going to get political very quickly, don't you just love our politicians 🥳😏

No decent person likes any politician of any party or affiliation or type but they would like us to believe otherwise.

I like to avoid their discussion here as the news blast about them constantly and they have filled us up with consternation of contempt at a minimum. So, nice to be at a place where it is not discussed. But, I do feel everyone's pain in all items political.

Last I am saying about it and my apologies for doing so.

Well it doesn't have to get political. We've all got to get our energy to move stuff, heat/cool stuff and get food on our table to survive.
It's different for everyone and I won't judge nor virtue signal.
I'm interested in what we all do in our neck of the woods. To survive, and help the next gen survive.

My initial post and following on the subject were all sarcasm based. We need to do things ourselves and not rely on shipping everything in and virtue signalling to the world. If you are using oil and you have your own reserves then use them until you have a viable alternative set up that actually works for all and not just the few.
These fuel prices we are all suffering are partly self inflicted through lack of self reliance and over burden of green taxes. It is sadly a political issue and it can't be avoided as our politicians are using the 'look over there' method to distract from our/there own inadequacies at managing the energies at home.
I think I need to un-watch this thread or a moderator will rightly tell me off 😁

It would be interesting to know how much diesel is currently stored in the Bowen Basin. There seems like more fuel trucks, especially doubles on the road coming from Mackay than before the conflict and just as many returning.
