Fuel Prices

In the local area the daily fuel price increases looks like it's going to have a considerable affect on the sugar crushing season and likely push up ethanol prices. Some of the smaller farms are looking to leave cane in the ground as cutting and transport costs are going to make this years harvest close to unviable for some farms.

If the reports of the leaked plans of Australian government are true some employers are going to have to deal with inconsistent staff numbers in areas with poor public transport. They're considering a $40 cap on fuel purchases.

Politicians have been waging a war against fossil fuels for decades, now we are paying the price.

Like banning or restricting exploration, selling off fuel reserves, closing 6 refineries in Australia and the remaining two are on life support. Placing an excise then a GST on top of that on every litre of fuel. The government makes the most money for every litre of fuel sold - more than the driller, refiner and servo.

Competent governments have infrastructure and reserves to deal with supply issues.

Each time the fuel price goes up our government amplifies the price rise with its excise and GST. Then these hypocrites allege price gouging. The biggest price gouger from motorist’s pockets is the government.

I have been warning people of the Net Zero BS for a decade.

California is in a similar boat.

We have special air quality rules. Special tail-pipe emissions rules. Special gasoline formula. Higher taxes and an aging refinery infrastructure- with a couple of them closing down soon. Other refineries in other states are not equipped to make our special gas (or so we're told.) AND a law on the books that states ICE vehicles cannot be sold here after 2035.

I really like living here. The government really wants me to move to another state.

My state has no annual inspections or emissions checks. Nor salted roads.
But it does have 4 seasons, including a cold one.
And it's a long way from anywhere so we end up burning jet fuel to get places.
There is no unicorn state!

Well said. My wife and I are ready to leave as well. At least 75% of our friends have moved to Utah, Nevada, Idaho, or Texas. When I say moved I mean they are there 6 months and a day… no longer California tax domiciled. It’s just a mater of time before we join them.
 
If your looking at Nevada to flee California just keep on driving. It's only a matter of time before Nevada is just as messed up as California. The only thing that is helping states like Idaho and Montana is the call for people to be back in the office. But people are having trouble selling their house and they can't afford to purchase a new one in California.

We left Nevada to be in middle of nowhere rural Utah. It's funny when I'm looked at as being not conservative enough. Fuel prices are high there too but I feel like I get at least a little bit of return on my tax dollars.
