Factory roof rack bolts seized

Has anybody else factory rhino roof rack bolts seized? impossible to get them out, having to drill them now unfortunately! Does anybody have better tips?

Did you try spraying them with WD40 or INOX and leave them overnight and try again?

Next time your screw them in, first coat the bolts with TefGel or something similar. Thread here on minimising corrosion, galling and seizing:

This topic arose in the thread on installing Custom Offroad Diff Protectors. I thought it deserved its own thread.

I use Tef-Gel to stop corrosion, galling and seizing of bolts and screws. It is non-toxic, but it is not cheap to buy. It has an extended shelf life so I probably will not need to buy it again. Sometimes I use Marine Goop to stop screws or bolts coming loose, mostly inside the car (but it is fine to use outside).

@Rok_Dr uses copper grease and @Krabby used anti-seize grease.

Which bolts? Did you try oiling and let them sit? For stuck fasteners I have had good luck with the 50/50 ATF/Acetone mixture. Or, oil then heat.

Upon receiving my Gren I removed all the bolts clamping the factory roof rack feet to the gutter and treated them with anti seize. I checked the tightness of every platform bolt too, but did not remove these.

Ended up drilling them all out! Nightmare but got the new rack on now!
