EXT2 High Beam Trigger

Hi All,
Just wanted to share how you can get the lightbar on the roof wired to EXT2 to be switchable via the high beams.
this is a requirement in South Australia for any forward facing aux lights
Note, this was shared to me by a friend, Ken Amos (many thanks Ken!)

EXT2 on, lights on low beam, Lightbar off
EXT2 on, lights on high beam, Lightbar on
or
EXT2 off, lights on low beam, Lightbar off
EXT2 off, lights on high beam, Lightbar off

heres a pic of everything as it sits in the Grenny
yellow wire is the trigger from the headlight, i made a simple piggy back loom from the back of the left hand headlight, you could probably use the Stedi Grenadier loom for this?

Great tip, thanks for sharing Ken's solution. This is a clever and compliant way to wire the lightbar.

For anyone else looking, the trick is using a standard automotive relay. Wire it so the high beam switch provides the trigger signal to the relay, and the EXT2 circuit provides the main power. This makes the lightbar dependent on both the high beams and the EXT2 switch being on.

It's exactly what I'm planning to do.
Is the yellow wire the same on diesel and petrol cars?

the yellow wire i added in
you need to make a piggy back for the back of the headlight
the headlights use 6 pin Deutsch plugs from memory, so make a small lead that extends this, then tap in to the high beam in this lead.
that way your not hacking into the vehicle loom

you could probably hack this up to make the lead
