Exhaust Systems

There are several options, the most popular globally would be the Milltek (technically not a cat back); the newcomer on the market is the Kooks which is a cat-back.

The Milltek is effectively a rear muffler delete and still not very loud at all; the Kooks replaces the components

Many aftermarket exhausts are going to release more noise, nature of the beast. I'd also like a more subtle deeper tone but all I've been able to hear or sample are a touch too loud and boy racer sounding. Nothing wrong with a louder exhaust if that is your thing but it just seems a bit out of character for the Grenadier. Sticking with stock for now but it's nice to see some quality aftermarket companies getting behind the Grenadier.

I’ve used Kooks products on several race cars over the years. Superb quality stuff.

The Milltek is great. Only gets loud in the upper RPMs with the valve timing. I had a mild drone at highway cruising that was solved with a layer of sound deadening under the rear floor rubber.

I have the Milltek exhaust and love it. It is much louder than stock and sounds like a big V8. I highly recommend it.

The Milltek is what you are looking for. Not obnoxious but just enough to make it sound cool!

Between the microphone’s sensitivity range and the playback speaker’s range, plus each individual’s effective hearing ability, there is very small chance that anyone can record and playback representative experience
That’s fair. I’m just trying to discern if it’s a good quality noise or if it is more reminiscent of a teenage boy’s fart can, wake up the neighbors, kind of exhaust sound. It would be nice to maintain the dignity of the look while also complimenting it with a heartier sound.

One consideration I'll raise: My absolute most transforming mod I've done to my Grenadier to date has been the Long Ranger fuel tank. The current kit comes with a replacement exhaust system (that incidentally I really like the sound of) designed to not interfere with the extra fuel tank. If the additional fuel tank is something you think you may want to add some day, you may want to consider whether an aftermarket exhaust would conflict with it.

There is a factory resonator about middle of the truck. Other than that there is no resonator or muffler. Gets loud when you hammer on it. Quiets down with less throttle.
I have the Milltek exhaust non-resonated and love it. It is loud on start up as the idle is high due to the electronic throttle. Then sounds amazing and gurgles and growls. It is very cool.

if i'm not mistaken, the milltek requires cutting the original exhaust. Can you post some photos of the connection between the milltek and original exhaust? Did you have trouble figuring out where to cut? Thanks.

My mechanic did the work and yes, you have to cut out the stock exhaust. He called me twice and said, are you sure you want me to do this, when I chop this exhaust out, there is no going back?! I hesitated and said cut it out and took a risk. It paid off because I love it.
I wish I had photos but I dont. Sorry.

If I understand correctly, there is no welding required, even at the cut. Is that correct? I ordered mine a few days ago. I’m pumped! Especially after hearing how much you like yours.
