I few years ago (before I got my Grenadier) I was on a 5500-mile trip in my 2013 Jeep Wrangler and at about 700 miles in one of the CV joints on the rear driveshaft failed. Since that's not a common auto parts store part and I was on a schedule I was stuck and had to find a way to continue so I decided to remove the rear driveshaft and continue the trip in 4wd on the front driveshaft only. The Jeep drove and handled fine and I did the rest of the trip (4800 miles) on front drive only.
My question: I suspect if I tried to do that in the Grenadier, it would throw a drivetrain error and would refuse to move. Can anyone either confirm this or tell me that I'm wrong? I'm not a fan of CV joints (and after that trip in the Jeep I replaced the rear driveshaft with a u-joint shaft) and I worry about all of the stories about failed CV joints in the Grenadier stranding me somewhere.
