I have received my globeguard diagnostic tool form globeguard.ch

Please feel free to ask me anything
I have grabbed every page that shows info or an error.

it doesn’t to service reset yet - but globeguard say they will add it free for all devices in the future (hopefully they can)

All the above were tasked with ignition on but engine off, I haven’t cleared any codes and I don’t know why there are any.

There is quite a bit of live data

My grenadier is a 2023 RHD Diesel UK Spec
667 car off production line.

Thanks

This is incredible, thanks for posting so much detail!

Fingers crossed
🤞

That is awsome news . Does it give you the option to code stuff ? Or activate preciously unavailable options ?

No cording as yet, but certainly component replacement. I have tried to grab all the screens I can see, I dident bother with no fault blank pages.
If they get enough units sold I’m sure they will, put more time into it, the box is make by another company, but the software by the Swiss.

They make the interface, but when I enquired to them I was passed back to globeguard.ch as they wrote the Ineos software for it.

Thank you much appreciated.
Hopefully they evolve this further .

Thank you so much for all the information and for being the guinea pig on this one. All that effort to share information particularly when you are having health challenges is really appreciated.

Thanks - I’m on the Fentanyl patches now so that’s helping a lot, I want to do an audio upgrade, currently working out all the wiring at home- hope to be able to fit it soon - although I have a plan B met someone who can install if I can’t. At least it’s a project inbetween lying down.

Looks encouraging. Thanks for posting @joejet.

As for the price I think it's reasonable. given the amount of reverse engineering they have undertaken and size of market.

Cheers
Steve

their challenge is that some (insert your favorite country that clones software and hardware) will clone their work and sell it for close to nothing. or at least that is what the cynical side of me is whispering in my ear.

Ah yes (insert country name here) has a rather relaxed attitude to IP and copyright. It was the main reason a drilling technology firm I once worked for would never allow their tools to be sold or rented there.

But that's the same as them, bosch hold the keys to the kingdom.
I'm not sure why it's been developed, I'm pleased it has. Maybe there is a military contact on the back of it. We know ineos have a euro IV version of the diesel, with no ad blue. Or maybe government, police/ rescue vehicles.
Anyway it's a step forward and the best I have seen so far.

@joejet - I turned your images into a 16 page pdf and attached it to this post. That should make it easier for people to read . . . feel free to grab the pdf from here and use it in your first post of this thread.

NOW WITH SERVICE INTERVAL RESET

I purchased the same GlobeGuard OBD II reader and have a few observations after setting it up and using it a few times:
  • The first item of business when dealing with any of the software is to find the language setting and set it to something you can read. Some of the instructions (pdf form) are only in high German and I had to use Google Translate looking at my computer screen to figure out how to proceed.
  • There are multiple ways to connect to the device - WiFi, Bluetooth, or USB cable to a computer.
    • I've tested Bluetooth and it works fine as long as you initiate the Bluetooth connection from the iOS app. The device doesn't seem to show up in the list of Bluetooth devices available to connect in the iOS System app. It takes about 40 seconds for the OBD II module to boot up and be seen by the app.
    • I've also tested connecting to my Windows 11 laptop via a USB cable. This seems to be the fastest and easiest way to connect.
    • The WiFi connection capabillity is intended to connect to a mobile device acting as a hotspot. Globe Guard's directions for this type of connection are somewhat confusing until you figure out what they're trying to do. They do impose a limitation that your device name (which iOS uses as an SSID) not have any spaces or special characters in it. Sort of odd. I chose not to use this method since (1) it looks like they want you to assign a static IP and (2) I never got it working. Bluetooth works fine, so skipping this connection method is not a problem.
  • In the iOS app, you can read the faults per module, but when you try to erase that module's faults, the operation fails. The app then offers to erase all modules and that operation succeeds. I did not find a standalone "erase all faults" command.
  • In the Windows 11 app, you can read and erase faults per module. I also did not find an "erase all faults" command in the Windows app.
  • It's not clear from the product page, but you'll need to renew your subscription for the vehicle you selected (Ineos Grenadier) one year after your intial purchase. About USD $150.
  • There is a separate registration process to get access to software updates, so poke around the software until you find that. You'll need to create a separate login and register your device.
  • While I'm writing this, I just noticed they have an update that allows resetting the Service Interval. I'll try it out and report back.

All in all, my impression is that the device works to reset codes, but the apps and documentation aren't as polished as some might expect. I'm off to go try the Service Interval Reset update.

I just saw an email about the service interval too. That's been my trigger to pick up a GlobeGuard unit.

Super interested in your impression of the update and service reset. Think mine is 2506 days overdue... at all of 7,000 miles.
