Has anyone experienced damage while driving on roads only - not off-road to the phonic wheel and speed sensor?

This according to the dealer is from external damage and isn’t covered by warranty

Search “ABS tone ring” and you will find a couple of previous occurrences, can be caused by a stick or rock striking the ABS reluctor.
