Spotted this the other day, looks like corrosion under the paint coat l/hand rear door..
Looks like another thing to get sorted when it goes in to get the “over due service” error fixed 🤷‍♂️
Anyone else got any corrosion on the body panels?

Looks galvanic. Think the hinge is steel as well as the fixing but can’t remember if the door is aluminium.

Echoes of pre 2015 defenders...
Seems that way, unfortunately. Those of us in New England who bought NAS Defenders from new may recall that the doors were routinely replaced under warranty in the first three years... in fact, I remember seeing rust on the INTERIOR seat belt bolt of our Station Wagon during the second winter.

Unfortunately, this is my very first photo of a Grenadier when I first saw them in the flesh... bringing back memories of brand new Land Rovers on the dealer lot showing similar hints of corrosion and is why my Grenadier is stored from October to May. Hoping not to be panicking too much.

Those particular RAI blank bolts are problematic. Mine started to rust quickly when I received the car in Florida from new. Dealer replaced them and have not had any issues since.

Nah those are just shitty bolts. No bearing on the rest of the car.

The issue OP brought up is worth following.

I put a drop of Triflow on all those exposed Torx heads, maybe twice a year. Keeps ‘em clean.

Regarding the Defender door/hinge/rust issue, Sir Jim was well experienced with this and specifically noted it in the Gren design criteria.

To the OP, that is not normal and shouldn’t happen (assuming the hinges and bolts have never been removed or loosened.

On the OP’s image does that look like a razor blade scratch just above the hinge? Could this be a case of faulty PPF install and they scratched the paint trimming the film around the hinge plate?

Presume this was a new car, not one that might have had a repaired rear hit?

Thought I would toss this in the conversation as it was discussed what seems like a lifetime ago.

They’ve not been touched, it’s my second vehicle so it spend most of its time under shelter 🤷‍♂️
