Which BMW model, which motor, which year(s) ... ?

When I got the car,I thought the starter motor looked quite tiny for a 6 cyl/3L engine....

Does the stop/start system use this main starter motor 🤔 or a BISG generator system, in which case it could account for a small main starter.

A VW Passat starter motor is used in the Bugatti Chiron.

The Ineos Grenadier petrol (which uses the BMW-sourced B58 3.0L straight-six) relies on a heavy-duty traditional starter motor rather than a Belt Alternator Starter (BAS) or a mild-hybrid "integrated" system.

While many modern BMWs using the B58 engine have transitioned to 48V mild-hybrid systems with a Belt Starter Generator, Ineos specifically chose to keep the Grenadier's electrical architecture simpler and more "mechanical" for off-road reliability.

Although in one of the podcasts, Lynn Calder did last year, she did say that they will be moving to the mild hybrid. IIRC it was "possibly in 2026".
