Hmm. Car running fine. Parked and left for a few hours. Came back, started car….. blackout screen, no illumination of interior panel, various lights on the tell tale.

Turned off the car. Opened then closed door. Locked while sitting inside. Unlocked. Open then closed door. Restarted.

Same behavior but second time around check engine came on. Engine ran fine. Drive about 1 mile to my destination.

Maybe it will work properly in the morning? Donno.

Has anyone seen this behavior? Truly out of the blue. August (I seem to remember) 2023 build / January 2024 delivery.

I would disable the Stop/Start widget, let it shut down fully (lock and leave for 10 minutes) and it should come up fine. Think I have had the blank screen once, and had the fail to start stutter once, full shut down fixed in both circumstances. One fundamental I work on is waiting for all warning light to cycle off before starting, I only seem to experience gremlins when I don't.

Good advice. Will report back in the am to see if things are back to normal. Start/stop is off. Car is taking a long nap now :) I’ll wait for all tell tales to clear before starting in the morning. More to come.

Put the battery on a charger overnight via the jump post in the engine bay.

Good advice. I have a built-in Victron charger, keep batt at 99% on trickle, typically.

But I will put my volt meter on it and see if there is some weird drain. I am traveling on work right now but will continue to troubleshoot in the fired :)

Progress.

Disconnected / reconnected batteries after letting the car go to sleep with doors open. Screen, AC and such are working. All but check engine tell tale are gone.

Will try to find code reader probably just a persistent code for computer comms or something for no good reason.

[edit] cruise control not working. Hmmm.

I actually thought you were discussing Spain/Portugals blackout.

Good to see your Grenadier is slowly recovering from the Black screen of death!

Codes… lost comms. Hmmm.

Check engine illumination stopped after 3 drive cycles or so. Have not cleared any codes. Cruise control
Is working again…

Bought an Mx+ reader. Plugging that in triggered a power steering pump message… good grief.

Make sure the vehicle isn't running. Even the OEM scan tool triggers that message if it's running from what I've been told

Thanks Anand. Yes engine was running. Mx+ tells you to start the car to pair so I did :/ it reads realtime values and displays various PIDs while driving. I guess I can’t use it while driving which is disappointing. :/

Light has since extinguished

Yea, I've got my bus pass for the same struggle bus as well... makes trying to monitor live values a huge challenge
