Earlier this week my auto climate control started turning itself off when I hit a bump in the road. I was able to hit the auto button to turn it back on.

In the days since the first occurrence, it has been happening more frequently and pressing the Auto button doesn't always turn it back on. The behavior is inconsistent.

It acts like a loose connection or flaky switch.

Has anyone else experienced this and if so, did you determine what caused it?

My dealer is 4 hours away, so I can't easily pop by to have it looked at...

At that distance, I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Just have them fix it when you are in for service or whatever.

I have never used auto in the year I have had my Grenny. Never. In fact, my salesman told me I would be better off if I didn’t use it because it was too finicky. I took his word for it and have never had an issue with the HVAC, heating or cooling.

I never use Auto either. Always manual, but have had two instances of late where HVAC blew hot air when knob at full AC cold.

Check the wiring plug on the back of the climate unit. It's likely loose. A local auto-electrician can fix this.

I am having issues with my HVAC controller as well. The dealer wants to check grounds before replacement. This obviously insinuates a known grounding concern. I would check your electrical grounds and see if you have one loose. That's what it sounds like to me.

Thanks all. It is still happening, but I have yet to isolate a consistent pattern of what settings are in place when it occurs. Fan on 3 and climate on Auto seems to be a setting that is more likely than others to have it occur. Hard jolts (pothole, bridge joint, corrugations) definitely trigger the behavior though.

Thinking about parking the Ineos and driving my Land Cruiser 200 for the rest of the winter.

My favorite combo of cars! Love the 200. Update us when you figure it out.

I may have isolated the behavior to something I did - I made/added a phone mount to the console and when it is jiggled hard, it causes the auto to turn off.

I can recreate it at will by jiggling the mount arm.

I removed the arm, and phone, and the issue seems to have stopped occurring.

As best I can guess, the movement of the arm causes the fan speed dial to move a tiny amount, which is enough to turn off the auto function.
