Air Conditioning (blowing hot) fix - or just deal with it?

I love your perspective and agree! I’d be driving an 80 series Land Cruiser if not for the Grenadier. I’ve had my share of lovable quirky vehicles. This is at the top of that list.

And congrats on entering your 9th decade! Truly impressive. Live long and prosper!
Many thanks! Much appreciated. It is also good to know that there are others deriving so much pleasure from this remarkable vehicle. It will keep us all young at heart.

I spoke with my dealer today. They said it’s a known software issue where the air blender sticks in the hot position. He said to just let the computer reset and try again. There was no interest in even looking at it 🤦🏼‍♂️.
Ive been dealing with this issue for a well over a year. The dealer seems to know what it is though they won't "admit" there is an issue unless they see it themselves, meaning when it happens I need to drive straight to the dealer while its happening. It was happening all the time before last summer and was worried that going into the summer I would be screwed. Fortunately I have a start up sequence that seems to work and I have only had it happen twice since last summer. I am still going to push them for a proper fix. Its been my only complaint with the vehicle and the dealer, aside from that I absolutely love the truck.

Good to hear that you’ve figured out a start sequence. What is your method?

Mine is in shop with a couple things being looked at and the lock recall. Have had it blow hot air 1x only.... but since I started letting the Grenadier boot up...connect with Android Auto completely...then select Auto Stop/Start and then go to my Fav button to turn OFF the Speed Warning.....no more problems. I just have to be a little patient when I start up and not turn key and slam into D and go. LOL
I have one or two drops on floor mat honeycomb after lots of use of air conditioner here in southeast on humid days. Sure is only condensation from a pipe not being insulated completely.
Will have them check the bleed/fill coolant TSB next time as they are spending few days on my current list. LOL

Very interesting to hear this, and I would be grateful to hear what your start-up sequence is.

I've owned my (Nov '24) Trialmaster (an ex-dealer-demonstrator) for a couple of months now and it has done the "insanely hot from all vents" trick twice. The first time (actually driving it home on day 1) switching to "auto" sorted the problem, but this evening coming home from work nothing would stop it and I ended up with the fan off and the windows open. I'm actually surprised just how hot the air can be!

Apart from these two occasions the a/c has generally been ok, bearing in mind that so far I've only owned the car in warm weather.

Any advice on start-up to lessen the likelihood of this recurring would be gratefully received, thanks.

Don't laugh at me like my wife does when I start it up.

First I make sure the AC ideal is turned off, I do that before I turn the car off so it should be off anyway.

Since I haven't been to the dealer to reset the oil change alarm I turn the key to the position just before the engine cranks and let it sit there until the Service Due alarm sounds, 99% of the time right after the alarm tone sounds I hear AC vents or baffles in the dash open or close, its faint but it happens.

Its at this point I turn on the engine and let it warm until the RPM's drop

This is when I turn on the AC.

I find if I don't do this sequence is when I run into trouble with the AC.

Remember to turn the AC off before shutting down the engine.

This may all be smoke and mirrors but it has worked for me the past year. Until IA comes up with a definitive fix this seems to do the job.

Took my Trialmaster in they took the dash and center console out and replaced “Actuator on AC Box” been working great for a week now in Florida heat. Also got the Software update that addressed the Fuel / check engine light. Seems to have fixed a few other gremlins. Replaced all door handles ( new keys and locks included ) fixed sticking issues. They took my frame rail plugs out and said to leave them out to solve sloshing noise and water. I am getting them back as I do a lot of mud and swamp wheeling. I will just remove while on pavement. Replaced windshield wiper blades and stopped stuttering. Microphone seems better after software update. Not sure it was part of the update but he said to disable the speed alert once and should never have to switch off again. It worked! They kept the truck for about a week. I gave them a list way in advance to be sure they had all the parts as it is an 8 hr round trip x 2. I hope this helps folks dealing with the issues.
