Try the popular method, that frequently works of not starting the engine until the HVAC start up process is complete. The time is about the same as it takes the centre console to fire up. i.e. get in, turn the key to position 1, then put your belt on, wait a second or two and then fire up.
If you go straight to firing up the engine and interrupting the HVAC start up, it seems more likely to play up.
