Today I had a few aftermarket accessories installed. Figured I’d share the experience of the accessories themselves, and the installer who did the work.
When I purchased my 2025 Grenadier in December, I knew I’d want a Wolfbox mirror added, so I asked the dealer for recommendations of installation shops. One that they suggested was Wolf Pack Overland in Woodinville, WA. After I emailed them, the owner called me directly to chat about my wishlist. He was genuinely excited about Grenadiers and they had done work on several already. It makes a difference talking to a business owner who is actually excited about your car.
Today was installation day. The experience with Wolf Pack was fantastic. They were ready to go on time, and let me watch the work whenever I wanted. The knew the truck quite well, and electrical tie-in work that was well beyond me was easy work for them. Here is what I had installed:
STREK OFF-ROAD POWER RUNNING BOARDS - Strek is the U.S. distributor for Chinese parts manufacturer Summer Auto Parts. These boards seem to be the basis behind many branded power running boards. They took about 5 weeks to arrive. To my eye, the are the ones to get. I like that they have three mount points (some cheaper ones only have two), are Grenadier branded, and come from a company that answers emails quickly. I like this type of board because they tuck up tightly and keep the profile of the vehicle clean. Here’s how they looked in Wolf Pack’s shop:
WOLFBOX G900PRO - I couldn’t see a thing out the back before this. The door pillar and spare tire blocked sight, so I was looking forward to this. Good to see @WolfBox active in the forums here. For me, this is a game-changer. The owner at WPO mounted the camera near the license plate on the exterior. This avoided drilling the roof, but surprised me because all of the installation videos I have seen have the rear cam inside the vehicle, mounted center top at the back. WPO noted that this has the camera shooting through tinted, heat-reflective glass which seriously degrades the image. Coincidentally, there has been an outbreak of, “My Wolfbox video is too dark” complaints here lately. I drove home at dusk with very little light lift outside, and the results were quite good.
In low light, I was surprised at how good the image is. During the day, I expect even better.
POWERED USB PORTS - I don’t like cables coming out of my console storage box to charge phones. So I had some extra fast-charging USB ports added to the center console, up front. These are nice because they easily accessible (one on passenger side, same on driver), are wired directly to the battery (so I can charge with the motor off), and lighted. Each one is switched, though. So if I want to cut the battery draw to zero during storage, I can just press a button to cut them off completely. WPO installed them so that only a shallow faceplate protrudes, so they are not in the way of knees. I’ll probably stick two MagSafe pucks nearby for easy wireless charging. I’m more excited about these than I thought I would be. 2x USB-A, 2x USB-C in each.
I hope the accessory ideas are interesting to others. If you live in the Pacific Northwest, I give my highest recommendation to Wolf Pack Overland. This installation was super clean, zero visible wires, and the work feels better than OEM quality. And they are just fun people to hang out with while your work is being done. They love the overland scene.
