50,000 miles review

Was a pretty good assessment.. the heater isn’t the best but in the round, it’s tolerable. It’s the screen that vexes me as you can’t see it with polarised sunglasses on..

Good review, very interesting.

From 08:30 on he says that, with a trailer attached, it takes off in 1st instead of 2nd.
Mine _always_ takes off in 1st, regardless if a trailer is attached or not. Which I found sligthly annoying and unnecessary from the beginning.
Also, I find the engine braking not too impressive, with or without a trailer. I cannot tell a difference, tbh.

Thats me in the review, interesting that your's take off in 1st. I notice the engine braking more when going down hill, especially if you touch the brakes, it will drop a gear or two and then hold the low gear until you accelerate again. Mine is an early car, I wonder if they have changed the gearbox map in later models?

Mine also is an early model, built Jan 2023.

If you brake several times downhill, it shifts down, that's right. But that's also the case in other "modern" cars as in my 10 years old Passat Alltrack BiTdi.

Because I don't want to brake several times to force shifting down, in most cases, I switch to manual mode before going downhill, revving it up to ~4000. Still, I'm not really impressed by engine braking performance. My TD5 does a lot better. Subjectively.

What I would _really_ be interested in is that taking off in 2nd thing. I often do that manually, because it feels so much more appropriate. It really should be the standard setting.
