Windshield Wiper Issue

I can’t even understand why Ineos use Doga wipers (I think they’re are Italian) and why even in 2025, they’ve still not changed them. First thing I swapped out and works perfectly. I use Denso Hybrid on all my cars. Like people mentioned before, wash and clay the windscreen to remove contaminants to give them a fair chance. Don’t use rain x because sometimes it can smear and make it worse.

I've had the Bosch recommended ones on, they didn't work and when I went to the shop they said that is what caused the issues. Had OEM put back on, they seen the issue and blamed the glass, new glass same issue with OEM. In the mean time I ordered a pair of those dual blade style and they skip. I put OEM back on and waiting for next steps. .... Saving grace here is we don't "get" rain here in AZ. lol

Yup even Bosch can be hit or miss as they offer economy and higher end blades so it can still go pear shaped after install. I have found blades with thicker/taller rubber, which you think would be better, are actually the worst. Most other vehicles OEM blades tend to be much slimmer than the stuff you see in the local parts store and work better typically.

In your AZ heat and direct sunlight after 20 minutes your blades probably resemble a couple of strips of burnt bacon

Like many automotive products there seems to have been a vast R&D spend over the years which have made things worse. (Eg wet timing belts)

Going from butyl rubber to butyl impregnated with silicon or graphite all the way to full silicon.

Granted the latest products last longer, most of us can remember when blades didn't last the summer heat or fell apart after 6 months.

These harder materials seen to be more prone to smearing or juddering, specially if RainX or similar are on the screen.

I'm also not convinced the rubber strip types are more suitable than the old cantilever, especially for short wipers.

Anyway, sorry for the rant, but here is my simple solution which also works for the rear.

Ignition on, turn wipers on, not raining.

Now, standing on something, apply pressure to the wiper as it wipes. About 20 seconds per wiper. Be careful with rear as it will catch your fingers on the tyre, trust me.

The juddering stops. Sometimes for a short time, sometimes longer.

Since installing the Wipertech blades, all issues have gone.

Except the rear wiper blade which I must change to Wipertech.

Clean and clay bar your windscreen then apply Chemical Guys HydroSlick ceramic coating. I use this with el cheapo Michelin blades from Costco and it works a treat.

Only requires a small amount, leaves heaps to apply to other panels or vehicles. Easy to apply, wax on wax off.

This seems contradictory, as silicone wipes are softer than rubber and couple perfectly with window treatments like RainX. My record is 8-years with one set of silicone wiper blades - completely deformed yet still worked perfectly.

My OEM wipers weren’t that bad to be honest, but I replaced them with Wipertech blades (first time I’d tried them) and they are awesome. That’s what I’ll continue to buy.

I also used RainX once but the bloody windscreen is nearly always covered in an inch layer of bug guts, so I’m either cleaning the bloody thing every week (never happening) or getting used to it.
Bowdens (Australian) Bugger Off is a pretty good product for cleaning the crud off, but if I used it every time the screen needed it I’d go broke.

I have windshield protection and replaced OEM with Bosch Evolution. First long drive today in the rain and the wipers were practically unusable. Left smudges all over the windshield. This is a big problem since in live in the rainy PNW. I will try the clay and other things suggested upthread, but am concerned this will be a long term problem.

Rain season is here isn't it. So here is what I did, Windshield defense screen protector. I put on the Bosch 16a wipers. Yes it does work with the QM and I installed them myself. Cost me an old fashion. Then I bought Rain -X plastic. This is different formula compared to regular rain x. The plastic is designed for Googles and motorcycle visors. I coat the window with spray once a month. I fill the washer bottle, with rain x. It has been magic. You can tell when I need to reapply on the window as I will get chattering from my wipers. Good luck

I will leave this here for what it is worth. I had skipping with 2 sets of wipers. Told by dealer originally, it was due to dirty windshield .
Ultimately I had the windshield replaced due to a crack. No more stuttering! Dirty or clean Lol!
