When I ordered my truck I omitted a white roof because it was said to cause a very long production delay. I still would love to have that white roof and am now thinking of wrapping the roof. Has anyone do this? Any pointers and does anyone have a close match to the factory white?

I had my dealer do it.
They had to do it twice. The first white was bright white. The second time more of a matte white, but still not a 100% match to the Scottish white. You can only really tell the difference if I am next to a Scottish white factory top.

I was told my wrap shop it would be a grand and in 2 years the wrap will fail around the edges. Should have had it painted

What are they using for materials?? That sounds a bit far of a cop out, even here in AZ I have a roof wrapped on my old square body that still sits out side 5 years and running.. lol FYI they also make PPF colored wrap that holds up very very well compared to older vinyl.

FWIW when I bought my truck from Regal they had just switched from having customer's roofs wrapped to having them painted instead due to longevity/edge issues with the wrap

How are any other “edges” on a vehicle different from the roof edges?

I guess time will tell but at one year old, my edges are fine.

Fantastic question, and that conversation was 5 months into them being on the streets, so I'd say you are probably fine

Wraps are generally only good for 3-5years when exposed to the elements 24/7. But climate changes that drastically. Areas with reduced UV exposure allow you to extend that a fair bit. Also garaging helps hugely with those wraps lasting for an extremely long time.

For me, my Gren stays outside in the Texas heat and cold. Any wrap would struggle to make it 3years without significant signs of wear.

I had the roof of my Raptor wrapped black. It was garage kept for the first 3 yrs out of 5, but those last two yrs we moved to SC and the garage was too small for my truck, so it lived outside. The vinyl quickly deteriorated and started flaking off.

IMHO, the money you'd spend in a wrap probably isn’t that far off from getting it painted and it’ll last much longer.

Really good points about the harsh sun…and, to be honest, if paint was close to cost of wrap, I’d have gone that route. I was anxious to get the new truck and didn’t even entertain a paint quote.

Commodore, I see you’re in Pasadena, so I would definitely consider both options carefully given the advice above on sun exposure, heat, and where you keep your truck.

I had mine wrapped, I love the look, it was around 750. I got 3M satin white and was told it has a 7 year life. Honestly I would probably just have it painted... I don't think it would be too much more $.

Some of y'all haven't gotten paint quotes recently have you? Auto paint is out of control.
I had my G wagon painted in ‘11. It was 400 as I recall. A little more now eh? I’d still paint before a wrap. On the roof.
