What do you do for a living?

Electrician, then Cert4 in electrical instrumentation and recently just finished cert4 in railway signalling. Building the courage and faith to order a trial master to get away from it all.
Mate, there are some well priced T Masters out there, you won't regret it. Have you joined the WA FB page?

Yeh mate. Been working closely with my dealer here in WA. They've been great and customer focused. They have one spec'd to TM specs Feb 24 build, but its not a TM as it didn't come with KO2's, with roof rack, bull bar, winch, side steps etc theyre trying to off load but I dont want all the accessories. Want to install offroad animal bull bar with after market cheaper winch. Decent rock sliders as the pilbara and Kimberly's arent car friendly. Not keen on the rhino rack gutter mount racks and missus wants heated seats and prefer the alloy 17" rims only $1500 from factory instead of the steel ones. Also want to do a GVM upgrade PD. Been on the phone to grenX and they were super helpful about some upgrades. No matter which route you take any upgrades aren't cheap and prefer to support Aussie trades. and local R&D. Basically after bare bones one i can do up slowly. Were going to make a decision on the 5th Aug as to where we put a deposit in preparation for next year's adventures. Oh yeh ive been reading the section on this forum with all the companies supplying after market accessories. I gotta say who ever put this together, I see the Doc a lot, did a tremendous job and HUGE effort. If I sign up for an Ineos I'll join as life member to support this incredible resource for owners

Previously worked with Valvoline developing the heavy duty market with their product line selling to construction fleets, frac operations, power gen, on and off road fleets, etc. Also did background acting on Season 1 of Landman. Did 6 shoots, one bar scene with Billy Bob. Now about to start with a major global automotive manufacturer in fixed operations management. (Not Ineos).

Retired after 31 years as a US Marine. Globetrotted to hotspots from Desert Shield in KSA / Kuwait, through the Balkans, Western Africa, Persian Gulf, Northern Africa, Japan and Korea, Afghanistan and Central and South America. Now just plug along in Eastern North Caolina, serve as a Volunteer Fire Fighter in my town, and a Boy Scout Leader for the lads.
Enjoy tinkering and camping in my 85 Land Rover 110. Have recently become very interested in the Quartermaster as the answer to what I drive on a daily basis.

Chemical Engineering degree in Sydney Australia. A few years in graduate jobs in Sydney and Perth. Took off to Silicon Valley in the dot com bubble and landed in semiconductors, spending a decade traveling back and forth to Asia. MBA in Los Angeles before a pivot into consulting. I now manage a consulting business focused on Life Sciences. I am California based but travel back to Australia about 4 times a year and own homes in both California and Queensland. I am buying the Grenadier in Queensland. I’ve owned many German sports and performance vehicles in California where they cost less and I can drive much faster. But the grenadier is a great fit for Queensland.

I’m not sure if this thread will interest anyone, but I find peoples‘ careers and life’s professional journeys interesting. I’m not interested in your salary, corporate perks, bragging rights, or you simply trying to plug your own business, but what do you currently “do?” Or retired from? Or have done? I know @Stu_Barnes has lead an interesting life!

My Land Rover club is rather small but we’ve come from all different directions. We’ve helped one another out by sharing our various vocations and careers.

My path is a bit crooked. Made it through half an engineering degree but fell in love with journalism. Graduated with from Uni with a camera in hand and entered the newspaper and magazine business as a photojournalist. Shot for a few years, became an editor and department head and … burnt out by working too hard, for too little in a thankless, dying industry.

I managed to put all those math and engineering credits to use though, earning my teaching certificate and becoming a middle school (grades 6&7 so 12-13 YO) math teacher. I ultimately (and thankfully) escaped math and came full circle - I now teach photography and digital design to high school kids. I’m in my 20th year and can’t wait for summer!

So what about you?

Again, if you guys think this is lame, I’ll just can the thread. But we’re a true global community who’s diversity makes it great.
Retired U.S. Army Officer:
I started off as an enlisted infantryman, went to college and commissioned as a 2LT. Went to flight school and then straight into a functional area (kinda’ like a secondary skill the Army teaches you that you can be sent to fill as needed). Did about six years of international and joint time with NATO / IFOR and then volunteered for a SOF (Special Operations Forces) assignment. Spent 10 years in SOF, deployed to the Middle East a couple of times and then ended up back in my functional area for a few years. Ended my career with a tour at The Pentagon.

Now I complain about the government full time, fly fish (horribly) and fantasize about outfitting my Grenadier.
