Hi all,

We have tons of very little kids in our neighborhood and they are all enamored with this vehicle. I give them the toot horn when I drive by and they love it so I figured I’d go one step further and install some sort of vintage horn (maybe an “ahooga” horn). Provided it’s runs off of 12v, there wouldn’t be any issues with this, right? This will not be a replacement for the factory horn and will be placed on a separate switch. This is for collecting smiles only.

That’s a hilarious idea - absolutely awesome. Please keep us up to date and get a recording! Might just be the coolest mod.

Hi IMPRMS,

nice idea! How is your project progressing? I have a similar project going on and I’m using a programmable Whelen Core to set up some sounds via the Toot Hands-Free function.

Usually, it’s used for sirens, but you can basically map any MP3 to any button and link it to the Toot button. The idea was to add an alternate Toot sound and maybe some Transformers or Star Wars effects.

However, the downside is that I have to connect J11 pins 2 & 3 to the horn wires somewhere. Does anyone have a hint where I can tap into that connection somewhere near the driver’s side cabin?
Many thanks for any help! :-)

Try pressing each horn in turn repeatedly sounds like the old UK fire engine, my daughter loves it when I pick her up. Her little face lights up with embarrassment and in disgust tells me how childish I am.
Makes me laugh!
