Mid of May 25 a new SW was released to change the way axles lockers can be re-engaged but as of today this update has to my knowledge not been made available for MY23. Is this going to be made available for MY23 as well and if so can you estimate by when?

Thank you!

Here is a link to a youtube video that explains the details

Hi @bnebenda could you give a brief translation of what the changes are in English please and does this just require a software update?

This would surely be a global issue; I heard from my dealer this week that I require two updates and Ineos Australia is yet to authorise / send the software so they can perform the update.

My QM is a MY24 build, MY25 rego with 2500km on the clock so realising vehicles for sale and delivery without current software is pretty poor form from Ineos, particularly when software can be send remotely.

Maybe the answer is to be building a system whereby the software can be upgraded like eg smartphones, as and when required by the user.

Ok, so here is the explanation of what they changed:
If you lock the axle lockers so far they were engaged immediately by just energizing the magnet of the Eaton lockers. Unlocking also immediately de-energized the magnets, however the car‘s ECU required a certain difference in wheel rotation to acknowledge the un-locking was successful. Besides the user interaction other conditions lead to automatic un-locking of the axle lockers (e.g. stopping the engine). In the current version of MY23 you could only re-engage the axle lockers after the ECU has acknowledged that they were unlocked. In the new MY24 and newer SW you could re-engage the lockers at any time which in some situations is beneficial. INEOS has (as far as I know) changed this due to (potential) customer feedback to help sales. I have an open service call with INEOS since May, 12th on that issue but no response so far. My dealer has no information either.
As I don’t know all the details I cannot state with 100% certainty that this is s SW only fix, but from all I know about how the lockers are engaged and how the condition that they are unlocked is detected I would conclude that there are no HW changes involved even for MY23 vehicles.

Sounds promising then that we all get the software update regarding the axle diff locks 👌🏼
