Had a trip through the Midwest ending with the snow storm in Chicago. Had a ‘Platinum?” Edition. Couple of tanks of gas with city driving and a 300 mile cross country. Got back from the airport and drove my Gren.

-The view out of the Gren is amazing. I never knew where the corners were on the Tahoe. Seat position always seemed ‘low’
-The aux controls on the Tahoe are HORRIBLE. Single stalk on the left is for all functions- turn signals, wipers (front and back). Not simple to just tap to wipe the front.
-It was a Plat version, but didn’t have 360 cameras.
-Tahoe rolled nice, was OK on longer trips
-In the snow, it did just OK. I forgot to look at the tires, but it was plated in Texas. Braking was about as effective as just letting off the gas.
-For any traction, you had to use 4HI. Now, I know 4HI isn’t the same as the drive in the GREN, but with 4HI, if you transitioned to anything but deep snow and tried to turn it tight, it chattered like an epileptic money. You could use 4AUTO, but I don’t really trust it. For everyone that complains about the Gren turn radius, I’d rather have that everyday and have to do some 4 point turns and know that I have 4WD.
-Third row is nice. Captains chairs in 2nd is nice. Much better use of internal space as compared to my 2015 Escalade on the same ‘platform’.

I usually get rental cars, but for this I got a big SUV, probably what I would have gotten for regular transport if I hadn’t gotten the Gren. The Gren is smaller- I got sick of having to plan trips in the city for parking when I was driving the ‘15 Escalade. Same with this Tahoe. The Gren is just big enough, and just small enough.

But back to that driving position. That is what took me most by surprise getting back in the Gren. How short- and easy to see- the front end was. I can see where people are happy with Tahoe’s and why they sell so well. Reinforced my thoughts on buying the Gren.
