Hello together,

did anybody so far have the issue, that the dashboard made noise? Like a ratteling or rumbeling.
I can hear it, when I'm standing at a traffic light, hitting the brake, engine ideling.
I have got a LHD and the ratteling is from above the gloove compartement. If you put Your hand on the dashboard, it stopps.
No, there is nothing in the compartment causing the noise!

Kind regards Sauerländer

Yes, I've developed that on rough roads. It started after my windscreen was removed and refitted. ( Another story I won't go into.) I assume that the upper dashboard was originally jammed up to the windscreen but now not quite touching. However in the last couple of weeks does appear to have settled down a bit and not being as rattley.
Try stuffing a business card between the dashboard and the windscreen see if that stops it

Eric,

I took a rolled USB cable and squeezed it in the gap between windscreen and dashboard and it gone. Will have to see the service soon, to get it fixed.

Regards

Reading this forum is giving me second thoughts about purchasing a Grenadier. It seems like everyone is having or has had issues.

Have a strange ratteling noise from the glove compartment area since I got my car back in 2023. Noticeable when I go slightly uphill (+ specific rpm).

Thanks to your post I’ll take the glove compartment out and have a look once back home from our current trip.

That's fair, if you assess the vehicle largely based on what you read here.

In the forum you're reading a journey through time for the complete, albeit short, history of a brand new vehicle from a brand new car company. If you go to the same forum for any other mainstream car manufacturer you will find similar concerns. Look up some of the big brands on the NHTSA website and you'll see there are problems across the board. Manufacturers that have been building cars for a very long time still seem to find new ways to mess up mature systems.

Don't underestimate the human trait to dispense more brickbats than bouquets. These days everyone seems angry and looking for something to complain about. There's plenty of love on here for the vehicle.
It's important to try to look past the repeated reporting of the same issues as the vehicle was introduced to new markets. The NA market didn't launch until 2024. By then the earlier ROW markets had experienced and reported on most of the issues with the exception of ADAS which launched in the NA market. That hasn't stopped NA owners reporting the same stuff all over again. That's natural and expected because it's no longer just a problem, it's now MY problem. If you assess the vehicle's merit on the volume of negative posts it looks worse than it is. What you read on here is somewhat distorted.

For all of our whining - ask us “would you still have done it knowing what you know now?” The vast majority of us would say “yes.” Don’t mistake our whining for buyer’s remorse. It’s just the man cold.

I’ve not purchased one yet, but it’s done the opposite for me! I’ve been keeping a list of items to check and watch when I do buy one. The desire only grows😁. If the car doesn’t choose you, move on. If it does, you won’t escape.

Rattle at certain RPM going uphill? are you sure it is not the center console area next to the glove compartment? I can stop mine when I push the side of the center console just under the piano black trim (closest to the glove compartment ).

Not to derail thread, but does anyone make replacement pieces for the piano black trim? Why any manufacturer uses piano black that scratches when you look at it is beyond me, let alone this Utility that’s meant to get dirty!

Had the same, spent whole year investigating. Pull glovebox out, tighten up any loose screw and the culprit was the ac/heater pipes were rattling against other under the glovebox. Solution, get some automotive foam to pack/wrap. Job done.
