We are currently at the westernmost corner of Europe, in Bjargtangar Iceland. I found this piece of jewellery. It's been here since 1973. This aeroplane was used to evacuate people when there was a volcanic eruption. Many thanks to the US NAVI. Perhaps there are a few veterans here who have flown this aircraft.

Are you sure it's been there since '73, there no signs of fire, drug or alcohol abuse, condoms or graffiti and general vandalism

Sorry, I may have expressed myself imprecisely. At least it says on a metal plaque that the aircraft has been here since 73. I can't find out when it was taken out of service. We have not been able to detect any kind of vandalism in Iceland so far.

You didn't, if i remember correctly you are German, and your English was perfect. My observation was that if that was in the UK it would have been turned into some sort of drug den and highly vandalised within a matter of hours/days.
Thank you for posting your pictures of Iceland, it is my dad's favourite place and one I hope to go to one day

I walked past the bird feeder in the bottom of my yard this afternoon and found three Red-winged Parrots and a Pale-headed Rosella stealing a snack. All are native to Australia.
The Rosella is one of a local pair that I see every day. They're currently preparing a new nest after their tree was lopped by a neighbour which destroyed their usual spot. Fortunately the lopping opened up a new hollow for them to set up their baby shop in.
The Parrots are seasonal. They visit my area each year to breed. There were six juveniles last spring. I'm unaware if these three include the parents or are all siblings from last year. Nice to see them back again. Pics aren't great. The best camera is the one in your hand, which happened to be my phone.

I also have a motion camera on the bird feeder which catches a few day and night visitors.

We are also often in the UK because we like the country and the people there. At least in the countryside, we have noticed that there is much less vandalism than in Germany. Yes, we're from Germany, but unfortunately we often have to be ashamed of the behaviour of some of our fellow countrymen here. If you are interested in photos of Iceland, please send me a pm.

Sadly we all have to suffer the minority that cause all the problems.
Where do your travels in the UK take you?

We have already travelled all over the country. We particularly like Cornwall, the New Forest and the Cotswolds. But every countryside else is also very beautiful.

My yard adjoins roughly an acre of land and being the highest area on Buderim Sunshine Coast it was ear marked for a water reservoir to be erected some 40years back but it is now maintained by our Water supplier[Unity] and these little roos. The witches hat is were I aim when chipping golf balls from different approach shots on the land but these guys take pride of place when they appear. They must visit many lawns in the neighbourhood because they are not at all concerned about me or the dog next door having a bark. When I appear they might have a look and I say hello girls and next thing the head is down and nibbling away...there are two males and one female usually.

The other pics are still on or looking over the block we adjoin...the sunsets can be magical...the Gren is under a Poinciana Tree well over 100years old on the block...the Kookaburra has a nesting hole in the Poinciana...there's two roos in the shot with the banana trees
