Hi. I’ve just taken the plunge on a used Grenadier, 23 model yr, diesel. Picking it up Saturday. Not my only vehicle. Primarily overlanding with my 12 year old son. He chose the car, ‘aircraft interior’. Have read extensively. I know I might be in for some challenges, however I’m supportive of the project. Have bought Bison 2/3 rack, rear shelf, arch bins and rear door table.

Is there anything specific I should be explicitly asking the dealer to confirm (air con I’ve done), or a list of recalls that it’s actually possible to complete prior to handover.

I have dual battery setup. I want to make use of that for aux power, fridge, starlink, can anyone recommend a good electrical engineer in the South of England? (Or anywhere UK if they experience with this vehicle)

Hi Jason welcome to the forum. If you have the Ineos dual battery system then the second battery isn’t designed for auxiliary loads it’s there to support and as a backup for the main starter battery if that gets depleted and actually pulse charges the main battery via the smartpass 120. Plenty on the forum ref the dual battery setup. As a reference I have installed my own small fuse box powered from the spare 60a fuse that’s connected to the main starter battery. This has all my extra auxiliary loads connected to it. Lots of other ideas and setups on the forum.

Welcome to the group. The Ineos is truly a special car once some niggles are ironed out. Buying used, I would check and pre warn the dealer prior picking up.

Check battery state of charge (on the electrical screen) is at least 90%. Dealer should trickle charge battery and test to see if starter battery is Ok. Personally I would walk away if dealer can’t do this. As a second owner, I don’t think Ineos would replace new battery. Also new batteries are months away, out of stock.

Start up car and no warning lights. Good sign.

Start up car. Stick it on auto and turn to test heat and air con is obviously hot and cold.

Stick it on auto. Turn it to say 19 degrees and once the fans start roaring away. After 5 minutes, check to see if any water drips come down on the passenger footwell. Note loud shrill noise is normal (but shouldn’t be normal).

All recall notice and service updates are done.

Door knobs should be nice and smooth.

Check doors seals haven’t come detached.

Ask dealer to check Safari windows if you have them.

Test drive.

This is just a simple list that I recommend you discuss with the dealer prior picking up and handing over your hard earned cash.
