Let’s talk Update 24.1

….as for our resident whiners. I think everyone will acknowledge that these trucks have had some issues. They are certainly getting better. Ineos has not been as responsive as we all wish but again it is improving. There are a new auto manufacturer and I’m not surprised that they have had some issues to expect different would be foolish. If you hate the car so much then sell it and buy a Toyota but for the love of all things holy stop coming on here as bitching endlessly. Lastly, @Zimm your personal political “MAGA” attacks need to stop. Take that shit to X, this is a car forum. We are all sick and fucking tired of it.

Is the whistling noise also resolved?
The HVAC whistling noise? I have never been able to hear it but my wife says it’s there on the highest fan setting. I have lost all my high frequency hearing from a lifetime of diving and shooting so I just have to take her word for it. The “auto” temperature control also seems to be more responsive than before the update. The result is that it is holding the cabin temperature much better. Only once have I had to screw with it. Outside temp was high 80’s but the car claimed it was 74 degrees. At the same time the hvac wasn’t blowing enough air to keep things comfortable. I went into manual mode to force cold air. 10 minutes later I saw the outside temp magically jump from 74 to 89 degrees instantly. I put the hvac back into auto mode and everything behaved as it should.

As a point of reference, my wife’s 2020 Range Rover sport has a bad habit of having the entire infotainment and climate control just going black while driving. The fix is to stop the car, lock the doors, wait a few minutes and restart at which point everything is just fine. It also likes to throw random “gear malfunction” warning messages when drive yet everything is just fine. Such is the joy of computerized cars and why I would never trust a self driving car.

Personally, I read the negative reviews as having the greatest value to a prospective buyer. I was in the early order que, passed as it didn’t look ready for prime time but thought I might jump in later. Not there yet and admit I’m barely watching anymore so my opinion has zero value but if I’m looking at a restaurant or whatever, I look at the negative reviews; I got sick from the food, hotel room had bed bugs….HVAC, leaks, an so on.

Question to the board: is FRS SPI 25.2 generally available?

Just be aware that the nature of internet reviews are heavily skewed from what is known as “self selection bias”. It is not a random sampling as a result the data derived is little more than useless.

But all things being equal, you can perform relative comparisons of what activities you see on the internet for the different enthusiast vehicles.

For example in the 4R forums, the nitpick issues are much more trivial and not foundational to the vehicle’s capabilities

Not random but speaks volumes especially when there is more than one person with a similar issue(s).

My interest has changed to more “how is this handled” by INEOS, dealers, service and owners. Interesting study/lesson. Excellent product can get you sales but excellent support … well y'all get it.
