Inadvertent pressing of brake and accelerator pedal

Curious if anyone else has found the pedals close enough together while pressing on the brake the side of your shoe can catch the edge of the accelerator pedal? I've had it occur a couple of times, once when I first test drove the vehicle (chalked it up to just not being used to seating position) and again the other day and damn near went through the garage door. Can't say I've ever encountered this before on another vehicle or have Bigfoot monster shoe size or consider myself a sloppy driver but it certainly has caught me by surprise.

Reminds me of the Audi situation back in the 80's with all the inadvertent acceleration causing accidents which I always chuckled at thinking how could anyone be such a numpty and press on the wrong pedal. I guess I'm a numpty now!!

I'm a little bit opposite, with me going from car to car. I am now wondering why my wife's car is not moving whilst I am pushing the brake pedal. Is age a good enough excuse

It happened frequently enough on the US PTO2 tour that alerting clients to mind their foot position was part of our opening "hi how are you" chat when we got in the vehicles.

Honestly since then I've probably done it once in snow boots, but that is all.

From what I was told by one of the original project managers, they are intentionally close to facilitate more comfortable 2 foot driving off road

This is my issue. I'm a size 13 and some shoes are pretty wide. I'm used to it though at this point in my life. Some cars I have to drive without shoes.

Now that I think about it, I find them nice for technical driving an autobox. Hopping in and not noticing something is a good sign.
