IG Owners - What did you come from, and what do you think?

From right to left, still have the Camel needs a mild resto…

I really like the Grenadier, quirky, and goes anywhere etc… just absolutely terrible service, support and acknowledgment of any issues.
But will keep driving it, after 60,000kms with only the front driveshaft problem I can’t really complain, but I must have a Monday built vehicle as I don’t have the other problems many have.

What drove you to make the change?
Curiosity. I actually tried to trade it back after I found out that steering pump squeal was par for course. I was pissed.

But 8 months later, I'm glad to have the IG. It's just a classier ride, but there are days I miss the Braptor. It's an incredible super truck.

1995 D90 300 TDI & 2020 F150 Raptor. Sold them both...miss them both for different reasons. The Grenadier is great, but not a total replacement.

If that 90 was anywhere as nice as the photo appears ... oh man, selling that would haunt me daily.

I came from a 1998 dodge diesel 4x4 pickup. It only had 325,000 miles on it. The engine was so reliable, I only had to change the oil and filters and batteries. Transmission, transfer case and axles were holding in there. The rest of the car was falling apart around the drive train and as with ALL US car manufacturers, they stopped supporting the truck about 3 years after it was built. It wandered the road like a blind person in an empty room (from the factory). It was louder than a rock crusher. But it rode well when it had 1500 pounds of stuff in the bed. I figured I'd sell it while it still had a couple-hundred thousand miles in it so someone else could enjoy the cacophony of mechanically injected diesel.

Nice 12 valve!

Or 24V is doing fine at 225K but lost a few synchros in the NV5600 about 15K back. At 400lbs it was too big for me to safely r&r so that was expensive. Plus I don't have the specialized tools. I pulled the 241DHD transfer a few weeks ago because their average life expectancy is 250K. When I got it apart it looked almost new inside. I went ahead and rebuilt it because i had already purchased the parts and it was laying there on the bench in pieces. FInished it up last Saturday and stabbed it Sunday morning. The truck does rattle a bit but it hasn't had a a tough life off highway.

What I really wanted was a '99-01 Ramchager but they were only sold south of the border.

So far, I love it.

Same here.(y)

Technically, mine was a 98.5- a 24V. Interestingly, my father insisted I buy one with the 47RE as the Getrag in his 12V Gen 1 would go through bearings every 100k or so. I hated how much efficiency I lost in the torque converter until it locked up, but loved how it never needed to be opened. That was the payoff I suppose. I'll forever miss the feeling of it pulling a load up a grade at highway speed without a downshift.

I really won't miss anything else about it. It was getting long in the tooth.
