How easily can the vehicle be serviced by a good mechanic? The engine is a known quantity, of course, but what am I overlooking?

I'm very close to pulling the trigger, but I worry about the longevity of the company. What lessens my concern is how analog (for 2025) the vehicle is - you likely don't have a Fisker problem/software dependencies should Grenadier disappear as an active brand.

Help me understand both sides of this, as someone who's only owned your standard fare of vehicle.

The axles, differentials, transfer case, and steering gear - primarily the steering box are pretty much unknowns. The engine, trans, fuel delivery system are all known BMW off the shelf components. Suspension arms, shocks, springs & drive shafts all have aftermarket replacements available.

Could another transfer case or steering box be adapted - with time? Possibly.

You'd be unable to reset the service reminder 🤣

You're either or all of optimistic, brave and resourceful ( like many of us here) or you're not 🫠
Software support is really the only thing that concerns me.
As long as we can get a working OBD tool most issues can be diagnosed/resolved.

Do any of these ‘right to repair’ state laws come into effect, or is that just for AG gear? These things have way more computers that I think people realize or want to admit. That it took so long to get the speed warning silenced isn’t a good sign.

I just hope that if they do turn off the lights, that they have some kind of exit strategy. Maybe sell some TDP or something to a national service chain? I’ve often thought that the BMW engine was a toe in the water to BMW buying the Grenadier as their G-Wagen. I’m hoping that there is enough mass here in CO area to support a third party if things go sideways. JCs?

I’m more concerned that this is the ‘last’ of anything close to what we want. Jeep has totally lost its way. The 4Runner/LC is meh. 25yo Defender 110….

I believe 1/3 the number of ECUs compared to the new Defender (and most likely other large 4x4s).
Something like 35 though ; a fair few more than my 1964 Fiat!

My fiat, modern 124 spider 2018 had 35 ECUs that had to be reflashed during the warranty period, thankfully, after the turbo let go.Well it stood up to its name Fiat - Fix It Again Tomorrow.
Could be worse and been a Lotus. Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious.

Tomorrow or Tony?
Fact is early Fiats were robust and well made and generally reliable - highly regarded since the dawn of the motor car era.
Then the 70s hit , and everything took a dive. It's been hoverin g above the bottom ever since.
