The kind of locations SJR wanted to make sure the Grenadier could tackle
I refrained from mentioning the only other one I saw on a road trip to So Cal and back earlier this month. It was at a semi-posh Whole foods on Ventura Blvd. in Woodland Hills. I almost didn't notice it amongst all the G-Wagons, New Defenders, and Range Rovers. It had to be one of the worst parking lots I've been in recently. Apparently it's de rigueur to park diagonally and take two spots if you shop there. It was during the evening rush hour and everyone was driving way too fast and stuffing food into their faces on the way out. I felt douchey by association.
The store didn't have what we wanted so we drove a block further west to a different market that was much less crowded. There I ran into an old friend who'd once taught me the rudiments of walking a tightrope. I hadn't seen him for 40 years so I don't know how I managed to recognized him. He just shook his head and said "We're old men now".
