This memory just came up on my Facebook page of a work trip I took 5 years ago in my Mercedes coupe
This is the type of trip The Grenadier will be used for.
A mixture of mountain range, long open straights, pot holes, cattle grids wildlife.
When you hit a cattle grid at 100kmh in 30 profile tyres you get a clear understanding of why 4wds with high profile tyres are the mainstay vehicle out there.

exactly Dave. Please stop posting these - it's making me so excited for the Grenny I won't be able to sleep tonight.

btw: (very slightly off topic):

The Ineos rep to which I talked in Aufenau told me that he was at the Dubai Event where George Russell drove the Grenadier in the Dunes.

He did it all without diff locks engaged.
10 years in Saudi empty quarter +++no diff locks disco 2

I am starting to plan my 2023 drives/expeditions in the new Grenadier in the evening when wife is watching netflks/stan etc. and I end up excited and want to talk and she just wants to sleep
I have the opposite problem
This is my wife sitting at the kitchen bench, while I am cooking dinner, planning our 2019 trip to Sardinia & Sicily

Oh, we haven’t made Sardinia yet and it’s definitely on the list. How was that? I feel like I’d want to be on the motorbike…

WE drove a little white Fiat 500
Unfortunately we didn't spend enough time there
We arrived from Rome on the overnight ferry to Olbia then 4 days later we left on the Ferry from Cagliari over to Palermo
It was lovely and the people were very friendly

Yeah we got a bit up here as well....cut off north and south for a couple of days. Almost like a real wet season, monsoon trough and all.

I get it too Max.

Magna Steyr have been making the MB Gelandewagon for more than 40 years (originally as Steyr Daimler Puch) so they are world leaders in 4x4 design - so I am confident of its on road abilities - I am just mildly surprised we haven't seen it in official video; e.g. why wasn't Lewis Hamilton filmed?
I’m sure the Grenadier will be OK on the road.

On road performance is going to be subjective to each individual.

After all this is a solid axle machine purpose built for adventure/utility. Yes the g-wagen is driven on pavement, as is the Jeep Wrangler. Do they excel on pavement, not really. This is one of the reasons many previous solid axle vehicles have gone to independent front suspension, and rack & pinion steering. They realized that the customer was spending more time on road that off, and they could give better on road experience by doing so.

Bottom line is don’t expect this to be any better than a solid axle G-wagen on road.

The suspension tuning has been done by Eibach and ZF combined with Magna.
It is a modern design for solid axles not an evolution of 40+ year old design.
I pushed it reasonably hard on a twisty, wet, smooth tar road and was surprised at how well it handles.
A little bit of body roll and understeer but very impressive.
Hard braking from 90kmh and it stayed straight and stopped really well
