I received my globe guard code reader today, I immediately tried it out..... It works!

I had two known faults after messing around with the fuses the other day connecting a DC-DC charger, 'ECALL ERROR' and 'AIRBAG FAULT'. The device also detected numerous other faults on multiple ECU's, I hit 'clear all 'and they are all gone.. I will do some further experimentation over the next week but it would appear that this is the device we have been looking for.

I whatsapp'd Lynn Calder when I had first spoken to GlobeGuard and I believe that they are having discussions so potentially this could become an INEOS approved product, perhaps even available to buy from INEOS... I am not party to any negotiations however so whether that happens I can't say.

What I can say is... it works. (mine is a 2023 diesel)

I know that GlobeGuard are working on the service reset, I have just emailed them a minute ago to get a date for that. I'll post it as soon as I have it. TPMS I am not sure on. I need a bit more time to play around with it.

I suspect it's what this issue represents other than the simple act of pushing a button.
Remember, the dealer's diagnostic device has to log on through secure servers to "Command Central " in Hambach, every time a dealer in any part of the world uses the device. IA thus, currently have a complete profile of every vehicle by V.I.N. in a database, updated at least once a year. They know driving habits, where the vehicle has been (via the inbuilt gps), average speeds, average journey distances, whether service warranty campaigns have been carried out, the service profiles etc. and scores of other data points.
For a manufacturer these analytics are priceless, especially for spotting trends in maintainability and reliability in the early days of a completely new vehicle.
While I'm frustrated at the absence of a diagnostic device and particularly the absence of a proper set of electrical circuit schematics, I can see, albeit reluctantly, the logic of what I speculate are IA's motives for keeping the info. to themselves.. this is apart from the obvious industry trend to use software locks to protect dealers (e.g. John Deere, BMW, MB etc) 🤷‍♂️

You might be correct, I have my doubts as to whether it is as sophisticated as that.

Fingers crossed they add the Service Resets and TPMS functionality soon. As soon as that’s available and proven to actually work this just might be the best solution going for DIY folks.

As I said in the video, GG are working on it. I have also introduced them to IA, perhaps at some point the GG will be officially endorsed. I wouldn't hold my breath on that one though, these things seem to take a long time.

Globe Guard website:
It can be connected to any standard Windows PC system via USB, WLAN or Bluetooth and can communicate with our free smartphone, tablet or PC/notebook apps.

I only asked because I saw on the Globe Guard website that the device needs to be connected to a Windows PC. If I understand correctly, this only applies when using a PC. When using the apps, it works with iOS and Android.

Saw the video, subscribed. They need to get those other features for me to buy, it’s almost $1200 CDN!

I only wish the price was closer or similar to that of the GAP Diagnostic IIDToolBT ($500 to $600 range) for Land Rovers but understand the Grenadier market is considerably smaller. I’ve used the GAP tools for years on various LR’s I’ve owned and like how it can be updated or traded in for a new model if you change vehicles.

Perhaps as the Global Guard sells more the price might come down? But until Service Resets and TPMS functionality is added and proven to work I’ll be patiently waiting.

My 85 € Autel OBD2-reader can as well clear some errors, e.g. the "car exceeded 400 Km driving without AdBlue" show stopper. This has nothing to do with a regular access to the control units of our Grenadiers.

This is merely a legal question, as in emergencies it must be possible for roadside assistance to unlock the vehicle, for example to load/drive it onto a flatbed tow truck or to drive it away from an unsafe location. I thinks this is the absolute minimum standard functions available with almost any serious OBD2 scanner.

I believe that an OBD2 scanner will only be a real solution for the Grenadier if it can at least (but by far not only) clear the "service due" message. That would be a good step, but even then, it doesn't mean that the more serious problems will actually be solved.

But I'm open to being convinced otherwise and would be happy if it really was a solution.

Emails from Globeguard about the product... does indeed sound very promising for those after a bi-directional tool. As pointed out in another thread shipping costs are up there.

Our team is working towards including the service reset in the upcoming INEOS update. We aim to make this available as a complimentary online update for all our customers. We expect to be able to offer the Service Reset in 2–4 weeks and will certainly keep you updated on our progress and the final scope of features.

We offer our GlobeGuard Basic ONE - INEOS, which is fully compatible with the INEOS Grenadier. Our goal is to get as close as possible to the original diagnostic tool.
The diagnostic software is included in the price and is available as a free smartphone app on the Android and iOS app stores. You can download the Windows app for free from our homepage.

The INEOS software update is free of charge for the first year from the date of purchase.
Your GlobeGuard with, for example, the INEOS software license is valid for life, regardless of whether you purchase a software update or not.

We cover all 19 INEOS electronic systems and you can for example clear airbag system errors (reset the Airbag DTC code) as well as errors of the remaining 18 ECU's and many further workshop functions.

One of GlobeGuard's unique selling points is its ‘remote diagnosis’ feature. I am sure that this is a particularly valuable feature in Japan. Find out more in the attached flyer ‘GLOBEGUARD_Flyer_3-fach_GlobeGuard-Portfolio_mFaltMarken_V107-EN.pdf’, on our homepage and the about 85 vehicle brands we cover in attached document "Supported vehicle brands_2025_III_EN.pdf"!

Please note that we offer two GlobeGuard product variants. Here is the difference between Basic and Pro devices:
GlobeGuard Basic - 650.00 CHF
-> ONLY for 1 brand (e.g. INEOS)
-> Cannot be extended to other vehicle brands; ONLY a change to another brand is possible (e.g. INEOS to Land Rover).

GlobeGuard Pro - 850.00 CHF (1 brand included)
-> For 1 to n-vehicle brands (e.g. INEOS, Land Rover, FORD, BMW/Mini, ...)
-> Can be expanded to include any number of additional vehicle brands - various attractive license packages are available.

You can order directly on our web shop or by email and pay by bank transfer or credit card payment link. We would then need your full billing and delivery address, email address, telephone number, and, if applicable, your VAT ID number in advance. Delivery will be made after receipt of payment.
The DHL Express shipping costs to Australia are about 104.00 CHF, depending on the legal provisions, additional fees such as import duties may apply.

Yes, the GlobeGuard is a professional diagnostic tool designed to replicate the functionality of original factory testers as closely as possible. Depending on the vehicle manufacturer’s specific architecture, actuator controls (e.g., fuel pump tests), as well as programming and coding functions, are available for many control units."

That is correct. After the first year from the date of purchase, you can choose to purchase Ineos software updates for your diagnostic module. These updates currently start at 245.00 CHF.

I watched that video, the price is obscene, and I'm not cheep, but that's just a bit much for what seems to be a proprietary scan tool that requires a phone to operate.
the other day I got my first real "check engine light" I whipped out my aging Launch Creader IV.
scanned the ECU and the code popped right up.
fuel sensor out of range / plausibility error.
It made perfect sense since I had just filled the Pig, I should mention that my 2025 Quartermaster only has 1200 miles on it I got it the first week of March, and it's just as thirsty as my old v8 Dakota.. whatever it's just money... cool costs money..
this came up as a permanent code, those don't "go away"
I just cleared it using the scan tool and well,,,,,, it went away.
any OBD2 code should be able to be read with any "modern" OBD2 scan tool. that's the point of OBD2, and federally mandated operating systems for essential operation of the vehicle.
The down side to erasing codes this way is resetting the drive cycle, so the ECU will have to remap it's self "learn" your driving habits and fuel consumption

full disclosure I worked in the Autobody industry for close to 30 years, I have purchased many different scan tools, dating back to a paper clip and counting flashes and and old Snap on Brick, which Ironically I still need to use from time to time on old junkers for certain code and faults and to bleed some of the old ABS systems.
I also had a version of Ross Tech VCDS for my 2001 VW TDI which was perpetually a piece of broken junk, that was a waste of money, my Snap On MODUS would work better for most things and provided the same information, in some cases more, until I stopped updating the software in 2017 when I retired. This included ABS, SRS, BCM and TPMS data.
I have no interest in "tuning" or writing back to the ECU beyond resetting the TPMS or the Service reminders which should absolutely be part of the onboard software, why that isn't included is a bit baffling to me other than "European"

I guess this is a long way of saying has anyone bothered to try using a newer generic scan tool?
If I am going to drop more than $500 on a new scan tool (which I admittedly need anyway) I am not buying a propriety tool unless that tool is just as capable as the factory diagnostic tool (which as stated above requires dealer level security and authorization to use and is probably $20k just to buy the software)
I am tossing the idea around of just buying this:
LAUNCH CRP129X PLUS
although I am "retired" I still do some "side work" here and there. I also just leave my pocket OBD2 reader in my tool kit, lets face it, the old days of a screw driver pressed against your ear, a pack of matches to set points days are over..

🤔 At the current rate of exchange CHF 1.0. to Aud 1.78.... there's not much change out of A$1500 incl GST, for the basic device delivered to Aus. and probably A$1,900 inc GST for the pro version with 1 other make.... . In terms of savings on dealer costs once the warranty is expired it's probably a reasonable investment, especially for pre 2026 models without all the fancy electronics...
I invested in a Fault Mate from Black Box solutions some 20+ years ago for my newly acquired pre-loved 1999 Range Rover P38. My recollection was that the Faultmate was roughly Aud$600 and it enabled me to rebuild the engine, change the EFI adaptive mapping, the zf auto mapping, cruise control sensitivity etc. However, it was tied to the vehicle VIN. IF the Globe guard is brand model specific, not VIN specific, it may be a good investment for a local Grenadier club to invest in one for members' communal use....
