Fuel Prices

If they haven't turned the middle east into a glass bead by then...

Greetings from germany...

we are kinda used to high fuel priices, but man they milk us at the moment,

Diesel is 2,32 Eur/l which converts to 3,82 AUS$/l and 10,19US$/Gal

For Premium Gas E5 its 3,46AUS$/l or 9,13US$/Gal

This crisis is the first time, that Diesel is more expensive as gas.

i had an good instinct and ordered Friday before Trump hit Iran and filled all my companys storage tanks for less, but we alraedy blew thourgh ~40% of our storage cpapacity

£1.49 petrol and £1.79 diesel / ltr in BP, Greenwich, London a few hours ago. Came through stoke Newington and it's 1.55 petrol and 1.89 diesel at BP. Slightly out of town in Watford it's 1.51 petrol and 1.61 diesel (?) at BP.

Prices are nuts, and the 16 to 18 mpg on the b58 gonna pinch.

Doesn't take long for society to collapse.
‘Rock bottom’: Retro fuel crime returns to Australia https://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/r...a/news-story/c21b71cff4cd99b0aa556c3225e7776d

There was a news story over the weekend of a farmer finding a hole drilled in the diesel tank of his harvester. And truckies pulled into roadside stops for their mandatory rest periods are waking up to find their tanks drained.

Earlier today I messed around with the catch on the filler door. It's weak plastic. A small pry bar would have it open in seconds. It locks with the doors but it's not going to stop anyone.

Anyone have a spare Trunk Monkey?

@Clark Kent I decided to lock all my classics' fuel caps. Never bothered before. The first one I checked had a huge huntsman spider living under the spill flap around the cap.
I should have left it there but I needed to clean out grime etc.

I topped up my diesel DMax today ($2.99/litre 😭) There's a small Redback living inside the filler door. I left it there. Hoping I get a fuel thief with a spider phobia.

Fuel theft from mines, farms, quarries and small transport depots parked trucks is a lot more common then people think. It's the theft of petrol from privately owned parked cars that is going to increase.
Locking fuel caps don't do much as a lot of cars for the last 20 years have anti siphon devices in the filler neck. The crooks just use a battery drill and sealable oil drain tray these days and if they're knocking off petrol a bit more courage.

Most plastic tanks in newer cars don't have a drain. There is a drill point for when the car is getting decommissioned.
I'm so last century.
Can my wife's car be drained if electrons?

Give someone the idea and they'll try. They may end up a smoking mess like a few copper thieves.
There are a few Chinese EVs with car to car charging ability with an accessory cable so who knows, it may become a future issue.

This was in my local rag on the 4th of March.

Darwin is looking on with a bemused smile, partially hidden by his bushy beard.
Wait until someone drills and sparks a petrol tank.

Similar thing happened west of Mackay. Thieves thought an old mine 6.6kva line was dead proceeded to pull it down with a ute. Blacked out some locals and part of a mine. Got the line down without killing themselves but started a bush fire plus fires up the highway for nearly 100km with the cable dragging behind their ute.
